Long story...
We were lucky to take a trip this December and paid for an all-inclusive trip between Christmas and New Years. After arriving (to our room not being ready and no towels for a day) we attempted to eat (one restaurant was closed inexplicably for the entirety of our trip). The one open restaurant was closing early for lunch that day so no eating. There weren't pool-towels available either. We learned on our third day that they had failed to give us pool-cards at check in that would have let us borrow towels (had they been available). The food was acceptable. The included drinks were acceptable. The pool atmosphere was great. We had a very relaxing trip (without watersports, evening entertainment, seafood or "international cuisine") but were greatly disappointed by the way that the place was run and how there were not basic things available (cereal at breakfast, towels) and that the advertised "chiquita banana" restaurant was closed. A decent trip but certainly not worth the money...Read more

Misrepresentation
I stayed at the Faro for one week. I was told it was a 4 star hotel, not at all or even close. The food lacks in all aspects. I ate out often after paying for an all inclusive trip. They mentioned nonmotorized water sports. I didn't realize a bucket with shovels fit in that catagory. The only good thing I can say is that most of the staff were great. Also the setting was beautiful.

What a surprise
I went to the Faro on a last minute deal with my family. I read good things on the web but was still surprised when I got to the hotel. There isn't a bad thing I can say about this place. The food was fantastic (they had items from Marlin to Steak on the menu), the rooms were spacious and very clean. I drank the purified water from the taps without a problem. The pool deck was quiet- which was good for me and my kids. (I've done my share of Spring Break trips to Acapulco and Cancun- those are great but I needed a change of pace here)
The view was fantastic overlooking the ocean, staff was very personable and the amenities were great (I even used the high speed Internet they offer in the lobby).
If you are looking for great value in a resort- consider the Faro.
