Matehuala is one of thos places I have stayed a lot over the past 13 years - "Pearl of the Altiplano" - ok middle of nowhere so you have to stay there a lot on border runs. I have stayed long ago in perhaps the dumpiest hotel in MH [they don't even give you a key to the room] to what has been touted as the best [Las Palmas - I think overrated] On arriving one night looking for another place we happenedd across Casino and gave it a try. BIG rooms [we were on 3rd floor]. Its not the Ritz but the price was right and the room and bath large. On street parking. Two things that made it the best for us: restaurant across the street great fajitas and the hotel balconies. Tried to find this hotel last night but entered town on different streets so stayed at del Parque. 568 pesos-junior suite, garage parking, heat and air[Casino has as well] and WiFi [I don't know about Casino I'll give them a call andd report back]. del Parque was great, I'd stay again but the slightly funkier Casino would be my pick if they have internet.
