Top Local Tips for Manzanillo

Bugs Make sure you put on bug spray--I got eaten alive one night when we went down to the beach. They don't seem to have many bugs at the resort, but if you decide to go down to the beach be prepared! A flashlight is a good idea too!

Restaurant is ala carte and they will try to accomodate what you want While they have a fixed menu they will try to accomodate whatever you want at the restaurant. My breakfast is usually pretty simple with just potatoes and bacon and by the second day the server knew each morning what I wanted so ordering was easy.

Be careful Next door at the Blue Bay you can take a boat ride through the mangroves. While fascinating, Mexican safety standards are not the same as American ones. I truly feared for my life. I was sitiing in the front of the skiff as the driver drove us at about 30 miles an hour through the narrow passageways while I ducked so I wouldn't get hit with branches. No life vests in sight. At one point we zipped around a corner to see another boat coming right at us. We actually collided. I couldn't wait to get back and get the heck off the boat!
