It was incredibly busy for our two weeks there. Our original room was next to the disco in the garden area; we had to move. If you don't mind climbing stairs, ask for a room with an ocean view. We chose a simple hotel-style room which was beautiful. Food was great but again, lots of crowds. The beach area has only plastic chairs. Highly recommend paying $8 a day to rent one of the umbrellas along the beach. Great swimming, lots of vendors, great markets along the beach too.

Top Local Tips for Manzanillo

local buses are great take the local buses to the shopping areas. You will see the real Mexico. Go to Colima City which is nly 100 miles inland. Forget the tour, take an ETN bus from Manzanillo. also, go to Comala and see the volcano.

Taxi day trips Daniel Aguila Rodriguez, taxi driver at Hotel Maeva part time and a wonderful tour guide! We rented his taxi (and him) for a day trip to Calima and Comala. He was wonderful and significantly cheaper than the group tours offered through the hotel. He can use his taxi or make arrangements to rent a larger vehicle. A much nicer experience than the normal group tours! Daniel can be found outside the enterance of Maeva or by calling his cell: 044 314 116-13-31. His English is perfect and he is a delight to spend time with!

L'Recif You won't regret making reservations at this beautiful, cliffside restaurant. It's about 20 minutes from Club Maeva - cost for a cab is about 8 pesos (one way). Plan to arrive around 6:00 p.m. and you will witness a spectacular sunset. The food was great and the view is spectacular!
