Top Local Tips for Los Cabos

Captain Larry's charter One day while walking the beach we ran into Captain Larry. He is about to begin sailing around the world but has made a 9 month stopover in Cabo and takes private charters aboard his 46' cruising sailboat (he spent much time and $$ getting the neccessary permits and is totally legit). My husband and I decided to take a 2 hour whale watching tour (private) for our anniversary and we were not disappointed! It was the highlight of our trip. We thoroughly enjoyed sipping margaritas on the bow with the wind blowing in our hair at sunset, watching the whales, and listening to Captain Larry's tales. It is a bit pricey but totally worth it and if you have more people it is obviously cheaper ($100/hr + $30per person). He serves excellent margarits's and beer and picks you right up from Medano Beach in his dinghy. His website is www.captlarry.com where you can find his american and mexican cell numbers to make a reservation. Don't miss this!

Cabo is the cleanest place I've ever been in Mexico I'm from Phoenix, and I'd call Cabo San Lucas "Phoenix with an ocean". Dry and sunny weather means little risk of weather problems ruining your beach vacation. I never saw any beggars. There are plenty of people walking around selling hats, jewelry, sunglasses, beach cover-ups, but they were nowhere near as obnoxious as, say, Jamaica. I do speak Spanish, but it just seemed like a nice-to-have as it seems like everyone speaks English. Unfortunately, the prices are about exactly what you would expect to pay here in Phoenix too.

Foodies look elsewhere Look elsewhere if you're looking for well executed interesting food. Escaping the tourist zone is the only way to find traditional Mexican cuisine at appropriate prices.
