Top Local Tips for Ixtapa Zihuatanejo

Ixtapa Island Ixtapa Island is a FAR BETTER destination the Las Gatas Beach. DO NOT book a tour through the hotel. Take the bus and water taxi's and save your money for the dining, snorkeling and drinking!!!

Food in town. We found this little place called Tamales y Atoles Anny, it serves lovely Mexican food nicely priced. There is one in Zihuatanejo and one in Ixtapa, they're great for eating steak as well. If you want nice seafood go to the sea front in Zihuatanejo and eat there, the fish is super fresh and cheap. Try the octopus! If you go for a meal at the marina, the waiters will put you off looking at the menu and the prices, DO look because most of them are terribly overpriced (specially wines).

Ixtapa. amazing You can always and i mean always rely on fantastic weather here in Ixtapa. We have been going here for 7 years and never has it rained .Acually we have never had a cloudy day. We go end of jan or beginnig of feb. we have been to Playa del Carmen and Cancun and both times it rained more than once during our stay.The town of ixtapa is amall enough you can walk everywhere.Restaurants, shopping, "the market" and they have a beautiful 4 mile running / walking path we walked everyday.Everyone is very friendly.As you walk through neighborhoods people will always greet you.It is a 10 min cab ride to the town of Zihuataenjo. Sunday nights in Zihuat is a must. The locals get togerther for "carnvail" night.Ixtapa is a 25 minute cab ride from airport.
