If you care about your safety, DON"T stay here! I checked in the hotel (leaving all my stuff there) and then went out shopping. First of all when I got back there was no electricity. They would not give me a candle or flashlight to see. I had to use my cell phone to light my way. When I got to my room some other person's stuff was there. When I went to complain at the front desk, they didn't care. They said if I didn't like it I could leave. They did not offer an apology. That's when I asked for my money back because there was no way I was going to stay there after that! They refused to give me it back! Supposedly I was talking to the owner!! She was very rude. She humiliated me. That's when I grabbed my stuff and went to another hotel. At this time it was very late. This is the worst hotel ever!

I never write reviews of hotels, but this was a must. We were robbed while sleeping while staying at this hotel. Someone either broke into our room via the 2nd floor window, or it was the hotel staff... absolutely everything was stolen, and the hotel staff could not have been less helpful in the situation. I would never wish it upon anybody to stay at this dismal, dangerous place.
Great Historic Building!!!

We really enjoyed this hotel because of the historic feel. Apparently it was built in the 16th century and was first used as a jail. Later the Zapatistas took it over (in the early 1900s). It has a hacienda atmosphere.
We thought it could use a bit of help with upkeep but overall it was a neat place to stay.
My husband and I stayed for just 300 pesos per night. That beats any other hotel and hostal that we knew of.
Great downtown location. You can walk to Cortes' palace from the hotel. (Plus many other attractions).
