Top Local Tips for Cozumel

So much to do if you like sun, salt water, and friendly people I hate to say anything because I love Cozumel so much and hope other travelers stay in Cancun! Yes, the cruise ships arrive and the dingbat cruisers crowd the area immediately around the piers, but so what? There is a lot of island to explore, a lot of nice places to stay, plenty of clear water PERFECT for snorkeling or diving. What's not to like? The main plaza is still very Mexico, especially on Sunday evenings when there are no cruise ships in town and the Mexican families enjoy the plaza and the island's beaches. Arriving and departing on the ferry from Cozumel is a breeze. You can rent a car or jeep on the island for a day or two, and otherwise get around on foot or by taxi.

Getting there from the ferry pier Don't bother with a cab - it's only a couple block walk from the pier. The best thing to do is hire one of the guys with a bicycle cart to haul your bags and guide you to the hotel.

Rock 'n Java - Best food in town Best breakfast, lunch and dinner! Not licenced but healthy and good food. Also a great book exchange to help an animal charity.
