A few restaurants We went to Le Cocay our last night in Cozumel and loved this place. Great quality food and nice atmosphere and good service. By far, our best dinner during the whole vacation. We also went to El Capi Navigante which was a long standing seafood restaurant in Cozumel. They gave very generous portions of seafood and it tasted good too but the menu was more on the basic side and they didn't have a kids menu or much in the way of non-seafood choices. Still recommend.
Leave the Driving to people who know what they are doing You can use a taxi to go down town or arrange a private tour of the island. It cost 50 pesos (approx $5) to get to the town plaza, tip optional. The driving rules here are different for example. There was a stretch of road with 2 way traffic that narrowed to one lane. If a driver flashes his headlights he is warning you he is assuming the right of way to avoid head on collision you need to wait. After seeing how driving in traffic works you wouldn't want to do it twice. Renting a scooter is suicide. Also if you are following too closely watch out because there are speed bumps and the car in front of you will slam on its breaks. They know where the bumps are and you don't. One night on the way back, our cab driver tried to get the attention of a rental car driver who didn't know road contruction during the day had changed which side was being worked on. Before he could help them they ran out of pavement going the wrong way. Hope driving a jeep was of help to them.
