This hotel has seen better days. Had an ant problem. Everything costs extra here and not so reasonably priced. If you can stay somewhere else that is an all inclusive.
There is nothing to do at the hotel itself, everything requires travel. Too far to walk anywhere but to a cruise ship. Go somewhere else to stay - you will be much better off..

Durning the summer (july-august)i spent about 2 weeks at casa del mar. for anyone who is considering this hotel in mind for a summer vacation you should definately keep in mind there is a school program of about 100 teenagers (give or take) that takes place within that time frame. Being one of these students i can say it will definately be noisy at all times of the day/evening and a very good chance that most of these teenagers will be drunk at all times of the day and occasionaly sick.

As for the hotel itself it is nothing paticularily appealing and has an older look to it. Staff arent always on the ball and difficult to communicate with if you need something done.

The food is awesome, a great casadia place across the street, great view of the ocean, restaurant staff are very friendly.

The hotels beach, nachi cocom, is about a 15 min drive from the hotel (not walking distance) and they will charge you ridiculous prices for cab rides over.

Overall its a good hotel if your standards arent high and dont expect a lot from staff.

Top Local Tips for Cozumel

Driving in cozumel Car rental can be had with complete liability and collision for as little as $30 a day, and is well worth it for trekking around the little island. You can see all you want to see in 8 hour of driving. Otherwise taxis are about 4 bucks for most places within 3 miles, and scooter rental are about 15 to 20 bucks a day. Driving is not bad at all.... No bus service (except for the locals). I would rent a car for 1 or 2 days, and spend the rest of the time walking or taking taxis.... Most of the dining is within town, but fine places are found on your walk to town also. Bring along an umbrella for the unexpected tropical rain thats never in the forecast.

Snorkle The snorkling in still a great activity, but not nearly as good as it used to be. My favorite spot used to be Playa Corona, but they have not re-built enough and the place over all is messy and dirty.

Re-entering the United States Allow plenty of time between your arrival in the US and your next connecting flight (2 hours minimum!). Getting into Mexico as a foreigner is a snap, but getting back into your own country is a royal pain of waiting in one line after another.
