Top Local Tips for Chichen Itza

Book in town If you are planning trips, do not instantly book them in your resort. We found that we could have got our trip to Chichen Itza at a much lower price when we went into Playa Del Carmen (10 mins from our resort). It is best to shop around as you do not want to feel like you have been duped.

Tours around Chichen Itza I will reccomend to explore the village of Yaxunah which is only 20 minutes driving distance from Chichen Itza, at this place you can appreciate how people is creating pieces of art made from local timbers. Yaxunah has an archaeological site and a Cenote. A must to see visit after you explore Chichen Itza. There are many Cenotes "Wells" in the area where you can swim and refresh yourself after a hot day. I suggest to overnight at the Mayaland Hotel or The Lodge at Chichen Itza located right in front of the archaeological Site and one of the new 7 Wonders of the World: Chichen Itza.
