We booked this Hacienda to enjoy visits to Chichen Itza and birding, but we found out this hotel property is a unique Green Retreat and a Nature Reserve. The hotel has one of the best lush gardens we ever have seen, birds everywhere, all day!
Flora and fauna are cared with great respect. They call it Sustainable Tourism and we call it a sanctuary much like paradise should be. Great food, excellent friendly service, romantic dinners under the stars (lots of them!) soft guitar music, gourmet food (try their Maya Chaya Soup), fresh tropical fruits right from their own organic gardens, good wine and expresso !! Our room was painted off-white with off-white bedspreads and colorful embroidered decor pillows that made the ambiance look charming, very clean and truly what you will expect a Mexican home cottage will look like. Fun spacious private patio terrace, with a great hammock to enjoy a relaxing cocktail with a great sunset view. Pool has a divingboard. Great fun. Boutique lovely decorated with many fine ceramics and other Mayan art collections and exclusive handmade jewelry (bought lots of gifts here). Now the best part: Yaxkin Spa Maya Rituals are something no-one should miss when staying here.
No wonder we read an article featuring this Maya holistic healing center one of the ten top world eco-spas. It sure is! Try the Ya-Ha Ceremony.
Recommended for romantic couples, honeymooners, people like us that want to relax, enjoy the outdoors, learn about the Maya culture, eat fine food and feel there is paradise after all: HERE.
One word of caution: don't book only one night, you will wish to stay four as we did.
