We are busy saving up for our next trip.

My husband and I spent 2 weeks at the beginning of February on the Nuzuk side at Moon Palace, Mexico and it was one of the best holidays we have ever had. Our room was fantastic, right by the sea and it was superb to wallow in the hot tub every evening before dinner. Our maid, Carlos, was very thorough and we found all the staff at both hotels very helpful, friendly, courteous and polite, especially the waiters. There are plenty of different places to eat, inside and out, with a variety of food to choose from(although we did have a couple of very windy days and a couple of wet days and evenings, which obviously restricted where we ate and drank). Our favourite was the Mexican at Nuzuk and the Oriental at the Golf club was great too, but we found the wait for a table in the Italian at the golf club very annoying. We ventured over to the Sunrise a few times, but I have to say, we did find it quite noisy in their restaurants, which is mainly due to the fact they were in large parties and therefore bound to make more noise than a couple out for a peaceful evening meal. A lot of couples go to Moon Palace to get married, so of course all their family and friends come along too! The Golf courses were great, we played with a lot of very nice couples and guys from USA and Canada and my husband lost rather a lot of balls in the jungle!!!!!!! The "time share" talk did occupy some of our precious holiday, but was worth it was they gave us 2 free rounds of golf (worth $500 - £250 to us) and $200 to spend in the Spa upstairs at the GC). I was treated to 2 hours indulgence and it was heaven (while Rod practised his chipping!) It did take over 12 hours to fly (due to strong headwinds) but only about 8 hours return flight so you really need to go for a fortnight. I would definately recommend Moon Palace, everywhere was impeccably clean and although there is sea weed on the beach, the sand is lovely and it did not stop us paddling. The pool areas are lovely and if you want to swim that's the place to go.

We spent Christmas at the Moon Palace. Coming from Canada, it was nice to be in Mexico but the Moon Palace wasn't great. The people who worked there were top-notch. The food was OK but we tired of it quickly. It paled in comparison to some of the other resorts we had been to in the Mayan Riviera. Just as the reviews said, the beach wasn't great. Lots of sand but the swimming area wasn't up to snuff. If a gorgeous beach matters to you this isn't where you should be. The pools and the facility itself were a 10 as were the staff. Whoever is pulling the strings in the Mexican hospitality industry is doing a great job with these people. They are so pleasant, polite and accomodating. Don't misunderstand, it was still nice to be south for Christmas.

I have never been to such a beautiful resort. The staff are fantastic, the grounds are out of this world and your rooms are spottless. You are staying in pure luxury. I will be returning 100%.

Booked via internet direct with hotel so loads cheaper than Holiday Company.
Stayed in both moon palace and the villas on the golf course, villas even better than moon palace.
The golf course food and spa services again are better than the moon (which is of a high standard itself)
You step straight on to the 'talcum powder' sandy beach from the moon palace, loads of trips on offer, historical, native, food, shopping, sailing, dolphins and deep-sea fishing or just relax and be pampered. If you feel guilty, there is a great gym. We are taking our family next year but after visiting Xpuha Palace will do a week there (live in the middle of a zoo and swim with a manatee) then move back to the palace.

Stayed in both moon palace and the villas near the golf course, both luxurious but the villas are slightly better, service is top notch and nothings too much trouble. The gym is superb. Step off the pool side straight on to the beach.
No signs of hurricane damage at all. We are going back next year and taking the whole family.

The resort itself is lovely, beautiful grounds and literally on the beach. It's lovely and relaxing and especially popular with couples getting married, there was at least 2 a day when we went.
However, its's really isolated and you don't get a feel for the country at all, you could be anywhere in the world. The beach is nice, but the sand isn't soft and powdery as we expected. We stayed mainly by the pool and the service is fantastic, really couldn't fault the staff. They walk around the pool area taking drink orders, the miami vice drink is recommended! The staff in the whole complex are as good, they are such sweet people who will do anything they can for you. We gave quite a few tips and they were so thankful.

The resort is split into 2, with the sunrise side feeling a bit busier and FULL of American's (can get noisy!). There are many restaurants but by week 2 you get a bid fed up of the same menu's day in day out. Saying that the quality of the food is excellent and there is always somewhere open for some snacking.

There isn't much in the range of entertainment at night and we got a bit fed up of the same bar by week 2.

The rooms are stunning, the bed is huge, the mini bar is always full and the jacuzzi bath....fantastic!!! It really is heavenly getting in there after a long flight. Can't fault anything about accomodation. We were a bit of a walk from the main complex but loved this as the grounds are beautiful and the walk was lovely.

Should also note, there's a doctor on complex (english speaking) which we found really useful as I had an allergic reaction whilst there.

On the whole the hotel is great for the more 'mature' guest, and a wedding here would be a dream, however for a young couple like myself and my boyfriend it wasn't ideal and we wouldn't go back.

Just returned from a 10-day business/pleasure trip. Best place for a meeting. Excellent service and courteous staff. Exceeded my expectations. Wonderful shows. Best trained staff I have ever seen at a hotel anywhere. Wonderful food and restaurants. I strongly recommend the a-la-cart dinners at the fancier restaurants that have a dress code. The weather was terrible (it rained the whole time) but we still had a good time. Excellent gym. Now for the negatives: the beach was a total disappointment (not the white powdery beach you would expect). The place is isolated and the free bus service to the hotel zone (where the beach is nice) is very limited (two trips a day and not enough time to do much). Avoid the rainy season (October-November). Be aware of the very nice hospitality staff across from the check in counter. They will give you information about what to do after you check in and will try to commit you to a 90 minute presentation of whatever they want to sell (timeshares?). Avoid these people unless you want what they are selling. The public relations people are the ones to go to for questions.

I have just got back from this paradise after getting married there and having a 2 week honeymoon along with my 2 children and 15 family members(age group ranging from 20-55)the place is paradise the rooms are lush and the people are the friendliest people you have ever met the bar staff, waiters cannot do enough for you(please do not take them for granted as they run around like headless chickens please spare them a few dollars tip)the place is something else there are many restraints all really nice food and drink (didn't rate the Chinese) 24 hour room service(delivered in 10 mins tops) only 18 dollars in a taxi 1 way to the town(clubs ,pubs eta)and the taxi waits for you all night outside the place. Recommend the outback steak house for a change if going to the town. the kids club is great for the kids, the entertainment is great at night (show) but only lasts till 10pm. if getting married there like me the wedding coordinator cannot do enough for you (fantastic) if I could do it again there I would it was the best day of my life and in the best place in the world wouldn't of had it anywhere else... I have read some reviews what was not so good when I arrived there I didn't have a fault with anything these people must be so pompous if you do not like the moon palace the is something wrong it is just pure luxury, we loved it that much we are booked again for next year....... if anyone needs more info on the email me and for a small fee I will send a booklet with photos, and everything you need to know in detail on the wedding, hotel, town, and advice on the best trips well worth getting nicolaomally@btinternet.com 10/10

Have just returned from the moon palace and we are absolutely overwhelmed by the excellent service that we received here. They couldn't have done anymore to improve their service. I have read previous comments about the beach but found it perfectly acceptable. If there was one fault, it was only that we were under the impression that we could use other palace hotels in Cancun, but when we arrived they had been badly damaged in the hurricane, so we felt a little isolated but was offered two free trips, which were excellent, so can't complain too much, but it would have been nice if this had been explained on their website. Overall, was an excellent experience.

Top Local Tips for Cancun

Palace Resorts not all bad You may find that Cancun Palace or Sun Palace have more favorable ammenties and location for fun in the sun and beautiful beaches.

Airport taxi Be careful if you use a taxi from airport. In the airport we were told at information the taxi rate should be $45, if you do not get an "official" taxi, they will claim it is a higher rate (told us $5 more) due to airport taxes!

Isla Mujeres Go on your own. Taxi from the Moon for $25, water taxi for $7/pp, golf car for $45 lunch at the palace resort, check out the south side, hang at north beach for the afternoon, sunset dinner at Sunset Grille
