I have visited the Moon Palace twice, and on my last visit I actually got married at the hotel, it was fantastic place and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about going, great value for money. I have written a 35 page report on the hotel and what to expect from your wedding, it includes lots of useful hints and tips. My Family just came back from a trip to Cancun where we stayed at the Moon Palace. Our stay was for 9 nights, our family consitsted of my husbands parents and our two children ages 16 and 13. The cost for this vacation was around $ 12,000.00 USD which included the airfare. My husband and I took $ 1,040.00 in spending money to pay for scuba, golf, atv rides and incidentals. We also took $ 100.00 in singles to use for tipping at the hotel, of which the bank gave me brand new serial numbered singles. Our Moon Palace room safe was accessed the 2nd day we were there and the $ 1040.00 was stolen, the theif or theives did not steal the serial numbered tipping money or credit cards. We reported the theft to Carlos in public relations (whom did not seem surprised) he had the Moon Palace hotel security dept come to our room for an "investigation" we cooperated and answered all questions, they looked through all our belongings, interviewed their staff and determined that the theft was impossible. Carlos in public relations said it was strongly recommended we go to Cancun to make a police report, we did not want to waste the time as the city is far from the hotel and we knew we would lose this vacation day if we did, but we did as he so strongly suggested...it did turn out to be a wasted day, the police never followed up. Carlos said the Moon Palace hotel would not do anything for us regarding the theft, he said they determined it impossible and he and Norma in public relations insinuated we were lying. I called my travel agent and told her to call Mexico Unlimited to see if they could do something on our behalf, while I had her on the phone I handed the phone to manager Mr. Mendoza, whom I felt was rude to my travel agent and told her it was not her business, just between the hotel and her client (us).I told Mr.Mendoza I would post my review on the internet upon my return, he did not care. My agent and Mexico Unlimited sent faxes and emails to the general manager of Moon Palace, Jaquin Arestage, it took him a day or so to reply to them, but he would do nothing for us either. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who needs to feel they and their belongings are safe. Upon arrival, it actually appeared to be the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in, the wait staff were very attentive, the grounds very well maintained, pools clean, rooms comfortable, food and drinks good, although 4 out of 6 of us were sickened with the stomach ailment before we left. The beach is not good for swimming, it has sea grass and jelly fish in the water. My husband and I were both stung by jellyfish. It was not the missing money which ruined the trip, but the attitude of the management which left a bad taste in our mouths every day we were there.

My husband and I returned back from a 2 week stay at the Moon Palace Spa & Gold Hotel a week ago after celebrating our 10th Wedding Anniversary and we cannot stop talking about it. We have been to several carribean islands but
Mexico beats all of them especially the hotel. We never stay in anything under 4 star and this was premier rated and it was fantastic.

The Hotel
We stayed on the Nizuc side of the complete and it was brilliant. When we arrived and checked in we was greeted with a glass of champagne and a carnation for the ladies. Check in was a doddle, everything was so organised within 15 minutes of getting off the minibus we had checked in and had been taken to our rooms and started to unpack. The staff are so helpful and they will do anything for you to make your stay brilliant.

Hotel Rooms
As my husband and I walked into the room we both just looked and each other and said this is fantastic. We had a double jucuzzi looking straight out over the beach and the beautiful carribean sea, because we was on the 2nd level we could open our curtains and just lay there looking out because we were very private. Then the bed was massive we both felt that when we was in bed we were in there on our own because there was so much room. There was a plasma screen tv on the wall that you could watch from the bed and then a lovely vanity area with a sink, lights, mirrors and a hairdryer, then a large shower room with a toilet in and a great big walk in shower. It was amazing.

Restaurants
We didn't manage to visit all of the restaurants but the ones we didn't make we met up with another couple and they had. Our favourite restaurant was Le Manglar in the main reception area. There was everything you could think of to eat at breakfast, lunch and evening. The waitress would greet you as you walked in and would take you to a table either smoking or non smoking, then she would place the napkin on your knee and welcome you to the restaurant and tell you who your waiters would be. Then the waiters would come across and introduce themselves and ask you if there was anything they could do for you and then they would tell you to go and help yourself at the buffet. Once you had got your food on the plate and you were walking back to your table your waiter would come and take the plate off you and carry it back to your table and out your napkin back on your knee, that wasn't just once that was for as many times you visited the buffet. Our two favourtie people in there was the waitress Marlene and waiter Javier, they were so fantastic and polite you couldn't of asked for better. The Mexican restaurant in the same lobby was also brilliant we never ever managed the 3 courses because the portions were so big after the main course you was totally stuffed. We liked all the restaurants and the food was 5 star without a doubt.

The Pool
The pool was huge and we always managed to get the same two sunbeds everyday with a thatched shelter over the top for when it got too hot then you could sit in the shade. It was located right next to the beach and the pool bar and food area. Each day a chef would make a dish and then serve it to you if you wanted. Most days it was paella and it was beautiful. The swim up bar is great because you can enjoy a cool cocktain while in the pool. The beach was beautiful white sand but the only problem is the seaweed, because Moon Palace is in a cove all the seaweed is washed down the coast and ends up on the beach at Moon Palace. Unfortunately there is nothing they can do about it but they do have a tractor out all day and part of the night clearing all the seaweed away.

First Choice Rep - Nelson
We attended our welcome meeting the next morning to find our that our rep was mexican. I was a little unsure at first but the more we spoke to him in the meeting the better because with him been mexican he knew so much about the place and the hotels. He was absolutely brilliant at his job and his knowledge and experience was excellent. The problem I find with reps sometimes is that they think they are only out in the foreign country to enjoy themselves and look as if they are sorting your problems out because they are too involved in their own lives (partying), I don't mean all of them but most of them but this was not the case with ours. Also he was at the hotel 6 days a week from 10.00am - 2.30pm if you had any problems, but I can honestly say we had no problems at all.

Trips
We booked 5 trips with our rep and they were great. We went swimming with the dolphins and they was fantastic an experience that must be fulfilled because it is something that will stay with you forever. The Lobster Cruise, we did this for our anniversay. We sailed out on an old galleon ship at 8pm and went out to a lagoon and had a 3 course meal comsisting of a seafood starter, steak & lobster, jacket potato & salad and then chocolate cake, it was brilliant, but the best part is you just sit up top of the ship and they plug tables in infront of you so you are sat looking out onto the lagoon and there is all romantic music been played and drinks flowing all night. The cruise lasted 3 hours and was absolutely brilliant. We did the Jungle Tour where you drive your own speed boats, I was a bit frightened at first but once I got used to it I really enjoyed it, my husband really enjoyed it he thought he was James Bond. It was a treat to see how much my husband was enjoying himself, he was in his element. We went on an organised bar crawl, that was really good and Coco Bongos was massive but I think I needed to be a lot younger to have stayed in there, if I have been 18 - 25 I would have stayed until closing but I did feel a bit old, but it was an experience. The final trip we did was Xel Ha, that is an ecological water park were you can just relax on chairs, go snorkelling or float own the river on the rubber rings, we did the rubber ring experience but you have to row with your arms as well and once you get on it you have to go the whole way and it took us 1 hour 15 minutes and I would have rather used that time doing something else in the park, but I will know for next time.

Shopping
The shopping is excellent. We only went one day because when I go on holiday I like to relax and leave the shopping for when I get back home. We both really enjoyed the shopping and there is some great shopping malls and the outlets are great as well. The Isla Shopping village is great there is about 300 different shops and it is all outside but there are air conditioned shopping malls as well. I was going to go shopping another day but I decided the sunbathing came before shopping.

I will stop now because I could just carry on writing this review but I will probably bore you. I cannot say how brilliant and wonderful our holiday was at Moon Palace and we will definately we going back for a visit in the very near future.

Our daughter was married at Moon Palace in March 2007. Having read some of the reviews I was a little apprehensive, But have no doubts this is an unbelievable resort.Fabulous gardens, great food and enough restaruants to give good choice. We stayed at Nizuk which I preferred to the sunrise side. Sunrise was very 'busy' and loud during the day and the evening. The rooms were excellent,spotlessy clean, as was the whole resort. With regards to the wedding, this was beautiful, the white horse and carriage was like a fairy tale, the service was tear jerking and the champagne served during the photo sessions, ice cold. The flowers in the pavillion were stunning as was the wedding boquet. The wedding pictures are to die for!! what a backdrop of blue/green see and white sand.
Absolutely great holiday. The only thing I was disapointed with, was some very loud and rude Americans, who treated the staff badly.Which is uncalled for, as the staff are so professional and attentive.
We are saving up for a return trip. Can highly recommend.

We just returned from 7 days in paradise. Two adults and 2 children, 13 and 11 yrs old, all were thrilled with the Moon Palace. We stayed on the Sunrise side and our room was beautiful. The beds were very comfortable ( they call them Palace beds) and the tempurdeic mattress felt like you were floating off to sleep.
The bathrooms were beautiful and the Biosilk spa products provided in the bathrooms were the best!
The maids filled our minibar daily with soda and beer and they cleaned our room with 'white glove' service.
The food was great-not 5 star restaurant in any American city-but great.
We were especially glad that the entire facility is air conditioned. Many resorts in Cancun and Playa del Carmen only offer a/c in the guest rooms. All the public areas at the Moon are nice and cool and certainly refreshing after temps in the high 90s outdoors.
The staff is exceptional and provided us with every request with "my pleasure". The drinks are top shelf and many bars, etc.
I would absolutely recommend the Moon Palace very highly.

My wife and I went to Moon Palace last year and liked it, but now that a man was brutally attacked there we won't be returning. They say he'll die from his injuries. The hotel said he fell off his second floor balcony but there's no way. He sustained 4 blows to his head, a serious blow to his back and lost all his belongings -- SOUNDS LIKE MURDER TO ME!

Ive just come back from a week at the nuzuk side of the moon palace resort cancun. A party of us went for a wedding which seemed to be the perfect location,however, every day around 6 brides get married and all seem to end up in the same bar in the evening so if you are wanting it to be 'your special day' it wouldn't be!! the staff as everyone have said are fantastic and the golf club restuart is great however for £2500.00 for a week it is defo not worth it and I would recommend reconsidering your thoughts!!!

Just returned from a two week holiday.
What a great place. We stayed on the Sunrise side and it was wonderful. The staff couldn't do enough for you and everyone was really friendly.
Food was great. The Oriental was our favourite, although the Italian restaurant on the golf course was a close second.
Can't wait to go back.
