Plus never travel with Suntrips, we were suppose to have a flight back a day before the hurricane but Suntrips decided not to send the plane to pick us up and they never paid me back for our ticket that we had to buy to get home.

There was a great variety of food readily available every day with friendly waiters and chefs. The bar staff were very friendly too - serving exotic drinks all day long!
The hotel was very clean with spacious rooms - the housekeeping staff was very friendly and left little surprises in our rooms such as chocolates, flowers and bottles of champagne!
The entertainment staff was on hand every day with daily activities ranging from water aerobics to tequila volleyball! Every evening a show was organised for guests and for those interested in seeing some of Cancun's trendiest bars and clubs there was the option to join the sports and entertainment team on a visit every evening from 11pm till the very early morning! I greatly enjoyed my visit to Cancun and I thought the hotel was superb however I think it was the staff in the hotel that really made my holiday unforgettable as I left Cancun feeling that I had made new friends.

Top Local Tips for Cancun
Look Out For Time Share Sales Go directly to the line utside to find your shuttle. The people inside just past customs are looking to HARD sell time-shares. They are very oboxious and pushy!!
coco bongogos This is a must see but do it with the hotel so you have a good area and are able to see the show.
Airport tip Leaving the Cancun airport, you will likely be approached by someone asking you where you're staying. The person looks really official (and there are a lot of people in "uniform" approaching tourists) so you're tempted to tell them. We did and were whisked aside to a table where a woman gave us a lot of good information about Cancun, BUT at the end she tried to get us to agree to go to some yacht show. She was offering $100 gift certificates in exchange, but we weren't interested and definitely would have preferred knowing that we could just walk past these people as we were leaving the airport to find our shuttle.

The Riu didn't keep track of where we were going. Not only did we have to experience being in a bus during the worst of the hurricane with down power lines, flooding but we got to experience going without food & water for TWO DAYS before we saw a Hotel Rep. We slept on urine soaked floors or in small desk and got to walk around in an overfilled septic tank all in the ghetto of Cancun. There was no security what-so-ever for the 250 of us stucked in the middle of nowhere without any help. A few block one way was the local jail where walls had collasped and inmates had escapse. A few blocks the other way was gang territory. We were all seriously scared for our lives.
And then when the Riu finally sent someone to us they only sent one woman who refused to talk to us as a group only telling one person that they just "now found us" and then hurried off into the safety of her car.
Later that evening the Riu sent over one towel for every other person, a bottle of water and some tuna mess. Then they wiped their hands of us and didn't do one thing to help get us out of the horrible living conditions we were forced to live in for a total of 4 days.
I will never ever stay at a Riu resort ANYWHERE because of how they treated the 250 of us "Lost Tourists". It's sickening to hear others who stayed at a Riu hotel talked about how they had it so bad when they experienced nothing like we did. At least they had some kind of food, running water and didn't have to sleep with urine & feces all outside because of an overfilled septic system. Not too mention the lack of security for our lives we had.
It's even more sickening to hear others talk about how their resort fed them shrimp & steak dinner, had karoke night and watched movies while we were forced to live as 3rd world citizens in the worst part of town. The locals were our only saving grace. The Riu Corp is a disgrace.
