Margaritas is clean, modern, with a friendly staff and situated downtown near some of the cities best and most fun restaurants. It is not near the beach but a free hotel shuttle is available and being away from the raging drunks which populate the overpriced shopping malls and rip-off restaurants of the hotel zone is a godsend.
My wife and I felt comfortable and safe on the streets and with the bus station close by we were able to travel easily to nearby towns and ruins for about a tenth of the cost resort hotel would charge for such tours. Excellent value.

I picked this Hotel due to the unavailability of Hotel rooms in the "Hotel Zone". This hotel is NOT a three Star, by Far. This Hotel has a lot of potential however the management is the worst. My wife and I stayed the last week in December 05 and on the night of 30 Dec the Hotel rented the Pool area for a Private Party, 150+ people, complete with DJ and a Monster sound system. The party Started at around 10pm. The music was so loud the hotel walls were literally shaking. I complained several times throughout the night to the front desk, they told me they could not do anything about it. It was out of their hands. I asked to speak to the Manager on duty only to find out they Have NO Manager on duty. The manager at the Radisson, that's right, Radisson is the Manager for the Margaritas.
He pulls double duty, since the Margaritas is owned by the Radisson chain.
I called over to the Radisson and asked to speak to the manager on duty, after a few minutes, I was told the manager was not answering his phone, a Complete LIE since the guy who answered forgot to put me on hold and I heard the conversation he had with the manager who did not want to be bothered.
The Party did not end until 4:30 AM. By this time there were numerous guests in the front lobby complaining, but the hotel would do nothing.
I requested to speak to the General Manager (Mr. Fallad) whom was comfortably sleeping at home and even left a written request to speak with him. He never returned my call and it seems he did everything to avoid me while I stayed there. They Totally ruined my vacation since we were so tired we could not go on one of our scheduled tours the next day.
DO NOT STAY HERE, MANAGEMENT ONLY CARES ABOUT YOUR MONEY.

The beds were hard and the pool was under construction when we went (June 21, 2005). It is in a ghetto neighborhood and you have to take a taxi to the hotel zone where all the action is. This hotel was dirty and I didn't like it.

Airport Transfers Do not book in advance. You will find excellent transportation on arrival and you can negotiate the terms.

time share walk straight to a taxi desk to book your transport away from the airport, beware of a gang of people wearing the same hawaiian shirts, the will promise the earth and be very helpful, they are trying to sell timeshare.
