Top Local Tips for Cancun

Getting around We took the ADO bus from Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen and back again. It cost $8. to Playa del Carmen, and $3.40 to go back to Cancun downtown, per person. The bus is beautiful inside. Large comfortable seats, air-conditioning, tv screens, restroom. It's cheap and the best way to travel in my opinion. Stops in Playa on 5th avenue. Just walk outside, and take a cab anywhere. Our cab cost $5. to Playacar.

Driving in the Yucatan Driving in the Yucatan was much easier than expected. The roads were well-maintained and uncrowded except in Cancun and Merida where the traffic was heavy and probematic. If you are staying in Playa del Carmen. Akumal, or Tulum, then I would advise a rental car above an airport shuttle. If you want to travel to more than one archeological site, renting a car is the best and most inexpensive way.

Swiss restauant Across the street from Rey del Caribe was a Swiss restaurant. They specialize in all kinds of fondues. We had a very nice one with Tequila mixed into the cheeses. Delicious.
