acitivies abound Rent a car, get out of Cancun! Drive south to Playa del Carmen-a much nicer town w/ beautiful beach; nice restaurants;shops & lovely hotels. For a lovely almost deserted beach drive south to Tulum. The beaches here are fabulous. The hotels along the hotel zone are really nice. If you want to see Mexican culture drive inland via 180D (toll road) to Valladolid or Merida. See the ruins. Chichen Itza (2 hrs from Cancun); Ek Balam (15-20 min. north of Valladolid); Coba ( 30-40 from Tulum) Tulum. All are within 2.5 hours of Cancun. Playa is 1 hour south of Cancun. Tulum is 30 min. south of Playa. Check out the cenotes such as Dzitnup, & Sammula & Zaci near Valladolid. Eat lunch in Valladolid (authentic Mexican town). Shop here for Mayan clothes & buy sweet bread @ bakery. Stay in Chichen Itza overnight-see the light show. See ruins early before buses arrive. Stay@Hotel Mayaland. a good travel agency in Playa is "Solatino". See Xcaret! Splurge-stay@ME-Cancun last night. WOW what a Trip!
