Nothing more than a holiday camp! 5 star your joking…. the only star this place as seen is in the sky. It's chaos at meal times, this place opts for quantity not quality. There are far better hotels than this, don't go, its rubbish

Cancun was my first ever holiday and it was ace! The bar staff was friendly and there was alot to do for all age groups! The food was good and so was the room service! x

Beware of Timeshare People

It was unfortuante that some of the mexican people had to ruin our vacation. As soon as went to breakfast, we were greated by a man named Sergio Silvan who was very sneaky and tried to get us to go to a welcome breakfast, however he was really going to try to sell us timeshare (which he never disclosed to us) and when we send today wasn't a good day to go the breakfast, he was VERY nervey and asked where and what we were going to do and got too personal. Beware when you exchange your american money into mexican. A man at the front desk (unfortunately, I did not get his name) purposely gave me the wrong amount of money back, because when I confronted him about it, he said that I had walked away, basically, I told him that he should have called me back or had given me the correct amount before I left the front desk. When we were leaving, we have round-trip transfers back to the airport, but they wanted us to take a taxi back ($40.00 out of our own pocket) because they said we had too much luggage. We were a party of four each having one suitcase and one carry-on each. I wouldn't except this, so they got me a van. There were a view other things that we experienced that wasn't the greatest. One bit of advise, the hotel was very nice, but beware of the mexican people, some are very sneaky and ruin it for the rest.

Good food, gorgeous view

Our stay was Dec. 18-25th. We booked through Air Canada, on the website it said it had a walk in shower and double jacuzzi and ocean view...when we got there we were stuck in a smelly mouldy room with a double bed, falling down fixtures, and old bathtub overlooking a hotel ruined by the hurricaine. The hotel staff didn't care; they will try to put you in an old room but demand a renovated one.

However, $500 got us an upgrade to the crown club which was much better, with a mini bar, jacuzzi etc... as others have said it is in the new tower, which is renovated and much nicer than the old one over the main lobby. Didn't hear any noise from neighbours. You also get a gorgeous private lounge to eat breakfast, get a drink any time and use the internet. This was helpful as I complained to the travel company and got back my $500 for the upgrade.

I can't understand why people complain about the food. I love fish, and had every kind during my stay including fresh tuna, grouper, tilapia, salmon, crab, shrimp, white fish, sushi etc...
There is alwasy hot dogs/hamburgers, pizza, pasta for those who don't want the mexican etc...
They also had roasted turkey, ham, chickens, beef, prime rib, ribs, but not all on the same day.

The hotel was compacted, not a long walk to anywhere. The hallways were fairly clean.

We dont' have kids, but it looked like they had a great kids program.
The shows at night were not bad for hotel shows.

Complaints:
Line ups at the restaurants were long: I was told at three different restaurants it was 1 hour wait, but stayed anyway and was seated in less than 15 min..we were only 2 so it was easier, but others waited a long time. Reservations would be a better option.

Check in: Many other hotels have room packages ready for you when you book through an agent, so you don't have to wait in a long check in line which was the case every day there.

Time Shares...they tried to sell us one everywhere, even in our own hotel, I don't think they should bother guests with this.

Excersions: very expensive. the second lobby was set up only to book tours, and also when you went to the activity desk to get mini golf clubs they tried to sell you excersions....take the bus for 6.5 pesos to the bus depot in Cancun , you can go to those tourists sites for about $5-10 and pay your own admissions rather than paying $75 us for a tour.

Pools: As others mentioned, I looked out my window at 7 am and all the chairs were already reserved... They should have the policy like other hotels, reseving for 1 hour only....many people even reserved chairs for over 1/2 day without showing up. The main pool is noisy all day due to activities. The adult pool always had chairs available, and is quiet, but it is set on the other side so no ocean view.

Tipping: Although not required, it really is if you want good service especially at the bars as getting a drink is difficult, they often had only one bartender per bar and they weren't in any hurrry.

I can add to Eddie\'s remarks. This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had!!! I travel to Mexico at least once or twice a year. I thought that this would be a fun place for my children. In fact it was quite the opposite. The first two nights we had NO air conditioning!!!! The hotel staff acted as if we were asking for a million dollars! All we wanted was a room change!!! They continued to send staff to fix the air we had but they could not understand us! My husband is diabetic and has to take insulin the hotel advertises stocked fridges in each room however, that is also a lie!!!! This was the worst experience. Do not let your children paint! The guys will take the paintinngs and not bring them back. Save your money and go to Cozumel. The El Cozumeleno is awesome. Jose at the door is awesome. And Paul the waiter is the best. I will never return to Crown Paradise!!!!!

SAVE your MONEY!!! BEWARE!

I will never stay here again. We arrived home last night from this dump! First let me say that this was my 5th trip to Cancun and the worst. First of all we arrived and checked in about 10 minutes til 3 pm. Check in is at 3 p.m. We waited in line about 25 min to check in and then were told that the rooms weren't ready and to come back in about 45 minutes. I asked if we would have to wait in line again and was told YES. Needless to say this was not good. By the time we got the key and went to our room to drop off the luggage OURSELVES, we were frustrated! We went to find something to eat. The food is OK if you like the same thing every day. The utensils were dirty and the place mats aren't washed just shook off onto the floor. We went back to our room and the ceiling was leaking water through the smoke detector. The water was coming from the air conditioner. We called the lobby and after being transferred 3 times finally left a message. No one by the pool could tell me where to get a pool towel. We weren't given cards at check in. Some of the staff didn't speak English at all. The 3 elevators were a joke. Usually 1 wasn't working at all times.. My son and I got stuck in one of them and if you were lucky that it did work it would stop on every floor so it may take you more than 5 minutes to get to your floor and it was not air conditioned. There was a nice view of the water sewage plant. Our balcony faced some run down abandoned villas. Now for the kid activities. There are some areas that children under 13 were not allowed. One of them is the water slide. Now what since does that make. This could be seen from our balcony and of course my 7 year old wanted to go. I took him down there the first day and it was closed so the second day as we approached I was told that he had to be 13 y.o. and that adults weren't allowed to stay in that area. Of course my son didn't understand and there were no signs posted. I went down to complain to the manager and of course they told me that he was in a meeting and that I could write down my complaints on the paper in my room. Well the next day there are children and adults on the slide…. This of course didn't go over well at all. Also children under 13 weren't allowed in part of the game room. My son may be 7 but he likes pool too. The only pool table was in the off limits area. The staff was rude and inconsistent. There was stagnant water in some small unused pools near the children's area and it was disgusting. There was standing water around the indoor pool that had a terrible smell where there were apparent drain issues. There were many areas in the hotel that were run down or not in proper order. Many of the people were complaining and we were told by our tour group that they also had tons of complaints. Some of the staff members who did talk to guest had said that they were treated badly and they were also unhappy. I can honestly say that I was in shock after I had read many nice reviews on this place. I didn't expect a fancy room but even adequate accommodations weren't available. SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Don't Do It!!!!!!

As you enter the open air lobby of the hotel and you look out towards the ocean, you realize that you are in paradise. Little do you know, because you haven't dealt with the staff as of yet. Oh, don't lose your keys. Beach towel key = $35, Safe Key = $80, not worrying about keys = priceless. Unfortunately, your room key is the worst thing, not that you will be charged, but it never seems to work. During a six night stay, I had to reset my room key 8 times.

If you are lucky 2 out of the 3 very slow, hot, humid, and annoying elevators are working.

Food: The buffet gets 3 out of 10. Food is sub-par and service is a little worse. Everyone has an attitude, some act as if you owe them something or if you are bothering them. The restaurants aren't much better; they basically take buffet food and package it differently. Oh, I forgot to mention it would take 2 to 3 hours to eat fancy buffet food. The steak house will leave you wondering if you just had beef or something different. I never had filet mignon like that before. It didn't look like a filet or taste like a filet. After inquiring, “Is this a filet?” I realized that the only resemblance to a filet was the name on the menu. Want to have a sit down breakfast? Well, sit and listen to Jose, try to sell you a time share.

The pools are nice; the main pool's horizon sits along the beautiful ocean, makes for a picture perfect setting.

Night life: After an OK show, there is no night life. 10:30, everyone is crowding around the bar. You'll end up going to bed early unless you like poorly mixed drinks. Every drink is put in a 6 oz. cup. If I didn't know any better, I thought this place was going out of business. They have cut corners on everything possible. Many guests were frustrated and many will not return.

This is a semi- inclusive resort, tips are included, but those guys are more than ready to take extra. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!! On its best day, this resort is a 3 star. I will never return!

NIGHTMARE HOTEL!

This hotel is a total disaster and unable to cope with guests. We arrived with our two grandsons aged 4 and 20 months. (my daughter got married the previous week at Moon Palace and we took the boys to Crown Paradise the second week leaving them on honeymoon)The room had a lot to be desired but we put it down to the fantastic room we had at Moon Palace the previous week, although the difference in price for a weeks stay is not that much difference and certainly after staying at this hotel is well worth the extra.Then the nightmare began, The following restaurants were closed, The Palapa, Trafalgars, El Rumbero, La Piazza and Fisherman's Seafood closed on our third day after a storm and it became flooded. Computer print outs were put up apologising for the inconvenience and directed guests with 'arrows'to a makeshift 'dining area' next to the nursery. They couldn't cope with the amount of people and everyone as you can imagine were appalled at the treatment. When it rained the Lobby flooded and was a no go area. The children's water park had electric cables hanging with a bit of tape covering the live wires. The hotel boasts "the best hotel for families in Mexico, where you will spend an unforgettable stay". The sooner we can forget it the better! Believe me if you have the chance to book elsewhere, DO IT NOW.

My family and I were VERY DISAPPOINTED with this resort. As soon as I walked in the Lobby I knew it was an "iffy situation". Long story short, we moved 3 times within 24 hours! First room, supposedly upgraded to a "Family suite". I would call it a "Family Nightmare". Room was completely tiled with 2 levels. The railings were about to collapse, so of course my 3 year old grabbed on to go up the steps and we immediately saw that this was a hazard, needless to say she could slip right under the banisters if she did slip. The vent had dirt and grime all over it. We waited 4 hours to get that room (arrived at 11 a.m. could not check in until 3:00p.m.), can you imagine what the room looked like before we got it!!!! My 14 year-old got in the shower and the shower head flew off and hit her in the face. Oh, but there were no other rooms available. The showerhead incident caused us to take immediate and loud confrontation at the front desk. Oh the view, we had the view of the condo poverty section who had clothes on the line. BUT we could see the Carribean Sea off to the side of that. The second room had the view of of the back of a restaurant and we had to get out by 11:00 a.m. The third and final room, was just 3 floors up from the inital room, we were not happy but it was not a "family suite". It had 2 double beds in one room but at least this one appeared clean. Now, what type of vacation do you move to 3 rooms with 2 children!! Let me continue....I was not the only one disappointed. We met at least 4 other families who ALL said they would NEVER stay there again. One gentleman from NY stated he had never stayed at such a dump and we never stay again. One of the resturants.. LOS GALLOS, great food if you eventually get it. I had to go the bar myself 4 times to get my children refills. Another couple we met moved 3 times with 6 hours. They said their first room had not air, the second room the sink bottom fell completely out while brushing her teeth. For the money we paid we will NEVER EVER stay there again and if I can help any other poor soul out I hope they read this review and take heart. The best place in Cancun is CANCUN PALACE but they are closed until December 2006 because of Hurricane Wilma.

Okay not great

We had an Okay experience but not great. The staff were not friendly at all. When we arrived we asked for an ocean view room and they told us we arrived too late and they gave us a room at the main floor which was not nice at all,and they asked us to come the next day early.They gave us directions how to get to our room but nobody came to help us with the luggage or to show us where is the room. We woke up early the next day but they told us sorry there is none available come tomorrow early, the third day we went and it was 7 AM they asked us to check out from our current room by 8 AM and leave our luggage at the reception until 2PM till the ocean view room is done. I refused because we have two children that are still sleeping so finally they agreed to let us check out from our room by 10:30 AM.
The pool was very nice but I have to wake up early to reserve chairs by the pool. The beach was nice but the water was rough. The activity by the pool was good. The food was great!
The show at night was very poor.
We wouldn't go to the same hotel again.

La Dolce Vita Italian restaurant is a must... excellent food and view of lagoon!

Crown Paradise Club Cancun Mexico I would recomend giving the staff a tip as they will treat you as royalty.

check out the flea market and the mall you can buy souvieners for cheaper if you take the bus just outside the resort....just 20 minutes straight one way you'll pass the mall called "la isla" our a little further a flea market...very easy and much cheaper
