Top Local Tips for Cancun
Taxi price from the airport = $45 I am not quite sure how to avoid it but apparently the government established a mandatory $45 taxi cab fare from the airport to any hotel. Extremely disappointing.
Taxi from the airport Stick with the gray line or green line taxi service. The private taxis tend to wisk you away to their waiting docks but leave you waiting for their one van to rotate through the strip before returning for you. It is worth the cost savings to rent a vehicle for your day trip to xcaret.
Have small money available I took a cab and went into a few stores with a $50 US bill and no one could change it! Hsve smaller US money with you.
