Great Place to Stay!!

I have stayed at the Barcelo 2 times--once with my teenagers and the second with my husband. Neither time were we disappointed! When I read the review from the woman that thought everything was so terrible, I thought she surely was talking about a different place! My husband is extremely picky and the only food in Mexico he actually enjoys is from the Barcelo--we have always been pleased with all the food at this resort. Also, try the Sangria at the Spanish restaurant--you will love it! Pools are clean and well kept--the beach area is not as extensive now as it was in May 06, but adequate just the same. Never a shortage of lounging chairs. Staff has always been courteous and friendly and gone out of their way to assist us. Another plus is the mall right across the street from the resort--just walk over and have a shoppers delight!! Easy to get around with the busses...cheap and quick to downtown. We are going back to the Barcelo for our anniversary in June and taking the kids back in December!! For the money, you can't beat the Barcelo!

We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Barcelo Tucancun and we cannot rate the place enough. From the minute we checked in we were welcomed by friendly and eager to please staff. The cleanliness was second to none and the food was varied and delicious (always fresh!). We evntured out of the hotel a few times on various excursions, which were amazing, but the facilities in the hotel were more than enough to keep us amused. The cocktails in the lobby bar was fantastic and we met so many people from all over the world. It really was an amazing experience and we are already thinking of planning our next visit to the Barcelo Tucancun the the near future!

We stayed there in september through to october and it was the best experience i have ever had! I loved the staff especially Roberto and Angel! They were so much help and i didnt want to leave them. The staff are fun to be with and the entertainment staff put on shows everey night which are excellent! The swimming pools are excellent and the beach is well organised because of the coloured flags. I advise you if you are staying in Cancun to stay at Tucancun beach resort because it is the best hotel ever.

Really wonderful experience. Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere. Super ocean view from room. Room was clean and staff was very friendly. Authentic Mexican cuisine was delicious and drinks were great. Beach is excellent and pools (3) were large and clean. Spa was great too. Very close to great shopping. Loved it. Going back next month for 2nd Honeymoon!

Terrible place to stay

We just got back from the barcelo tucancun and we had a terrible time there when we booked this hotel online they said no damage from the hurricane and they had facilities for children. 11 people went 3 of them 13 year old children. It started at the front desk upon arrival they said one room was not ready. so we all went to the room that was ready and for this room we asked for double beds in all rooms, this room had 1 bed so they said the other room was ready now so they went there while we waited for our change of room they came down a few minutes later because they walked in a room that people were inside of staying. so after 2 hours of trying to get us rooms they got us in some rooms. where to start from there! shower went hot to cold had no water pressure. The television in our room did not work so at night when the children wanted to watch it they couldn't, they put a new one in on the 2nd night after 2 calls to the front desk and never hooked up the cable box, on the 3rd night i hooked it up by myself to make the television work, this was after 3 calls to the front desk. The key cards had to be rescanned 2 times or more a day. half the hotel was under construction from the hurricane so no game room like they said no gym and all day and night men working. The children were bored like crazy. when the entertainment staff played games during the day it was all for the older people and the kids can not play volleyball with grown men. we had to beg for a ball to play at the net they were not playing at. The hotel does not want any noise in there facility, on of the parties staying at the hotel came home from a club they drove them to and was loud they wanted to call a taxi and send him away from there hotel, don't know where just wanted him out. The food was terrible even the mexican restaurant had stake that they did not know how to cook well was rare and it was terrible tasting, the food in all the restaurants were terrible. If you went to the front desk for anything to change money ask a question they would say just a minute we have to ask. the staff just was not friendly except for the few and far between shift changes. at checkout time we handed in keys and towel cards we tried to call domino pizza for a pie we made 2 calls and they said the was about ten calls on the phone and showed us the calls they said it was a calling card and some of the calls were made while we standing with them checking out not from us to the same number and they still argued with us and made us pay $45.00 usd that is just so we can get out of there. it was a terrible place to stay dont go there. Coming from Jersey
