Excellent Service and Staff

The hotel was clean everyday we received clean sheets, the staff at the front desk was very helpful as well as the other hotel staff. The kitchen staff and waiters were so polite and the food was excellent. I will definitely go back.

Fantastic holiday

I have just read reviews from other visiotors. Personally i did'nt have any of those problems. Staff were very friendly. Rooms were very clean and were a pleasure to stay in. The avalon grand staff could not do anything more for you. Resort is right on the beach which is lovely. Food was lovely and of course drink. With out a doubt I would definatly go back.

Staff was nice but not much else

Had a room with a bathroom and a tile floor that was always wet and dirty. The air conditioner leaked so could not use it so had to put up with the hot humidity at night and had to call the front desk more than once to get clean towels. Like others on arrival they asked if we would like to go on a tour the next morning but they showed us one room and then took us into a room where they did a five hour high pressure sales pitch for what they said was not a Time Share but that is exactly what they were selling. The resturants were ok but did not have much of a variety. If this is a sample of Cancun's Five Star Hotel I will never go back.

Avalon Grand Disappointmnet

This was a very disappointing hotel. Most rooms are in need of repair. The A/C units leaked into the room. The beds were so hard I found it necessary to take a lounge chair from the pool into the room to sleep on. There are numerous stairs everywhere and the elevator does not work. There were never any pool towels available and pool chairs are very limited. Local vendors are allowed onto the property at night and are rather annoying. The all inclusive restaurants were so so and somewhat repetitive. Avalon rates this as a five star resort but it is a long way from that. On a good day maybe a two star rating would be more appropriate. I was very disappointed with this resort.

Dirty Rooms!!

I was very upset with the hotel. The 1st room had a sofa bed with a mattress that looked like it came out of a dumpster. The furniture was also filthy. The hair dryer blew up in my daughters face. I requested a different room and we got slightly better. Only had to deal with black hairs in the bed and a condom wrapper in the shower window sill. I did get the sheets changed but the condom wrapper was still there the day we left. No one seemed to care when you needed something or brought anything to their attention. Unless you buy a time share you are not important to the hotel. Oh, and getting towels and bottled water for your room is like pulling teeth. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Very dirty and unaccomondating to the tourists.

Don't go to the Avalon Grand

My family booked a week at the Avalon Grand and we only stayed one night. The place was so dirty and smelled so bad we call expedia and moved to a different resort. Believe what you read about this place I wish I would have. They gave us a room with one bed and four people, tried 3 times to get towels at the pool they never had clean ones the hot food was cold and garbage and dirty dishes laid around all over. DON'T GO!!

Just got back from Avalon Grand Cancun (Sept 24-Oct 2 '03)& it was without a doubt one of the very top vacations we've ever taken. We usually take at least 2 vacations per year for the last 27 years. We loved the Avalon Grand so much we extended our 5 night stay to 8 nights. The hotel is awesome & extremely clean, the rooms are wonderful--but the very best part is the unbelievable service and attitude of absolutely EVERYONE we even crossed paths with. They couldn't do enough for us & the hotel is just small enough to be on a first name basis. It's also just large enough to have good activities. Easy to access the bus & downtown for shopping or for tours. One of the best surprises was being able to order room service 24 hours a day--and it was part of the all inclusive!! The pool was sparkling & looked out directly over beautiful white powder sand & amazing aqua water of the ocean. We will definitely return to that hotel and we thank the entire staff for a most perfect vacation!!!

Choose Avalon Grand!

My friend and I went to Cancun Jan. 12 -17, 2004 and stayed at the Avalon Grand. After a bad flight with Spirit Airlines, we finally reach Avalon Grand and yes it does look the same as the brochure and the site. When I got to the hotel it was 1:30 p.m. and check in was at 3:00 which went to almost 4:00 until we got our room. I overheard people complaining their room so I talk with Alicia Franco at the reception desk about a room with an ocean view and without a problem she gave me an ocean view room at no additional charge. Alicia customer service was excellent from start to finish. The restaurants were great and kelly's pub had really, really, really nice drinks and nightly entertainment. Avalon Grand has 3 malls within walking distance and the bus stops near and across the street from the hotel. The next time we come to Cancun we will choose Avalon Grand and I will have Alicia Franco to take care of me.

It was brilliant!

We went to the Avalon Grand as a group of 9. It was brilliant from start to finish. We had a great time every night for 14 nights with Hollie, Has and Andre. In Kelly's Sports bar Wee Abundio, Cesar and Miguel sorted us out each night getting us very drunk. We are going back on the 15th of August '04, unfortunatley not staying in the same hotel though, Brilliant Holiday!!!!

Wonderful!

We went the last week in January. The resort was very nice. The room was great, service was excellent, food was not so good, and we were very disappointed that the jacuzzis were not working all week. We were pressured the first day with about a two hour sales pitch, but was very well worth it because I received a free 50 minute masssage, which was WONDERFUL! One day we went to the Reef Club and had a BLAST! We wish we were staying there! I would never stay at the Avalon Grand again, but maybe at the Reef Club. Overall, we had a good experience with the Avalon.
