Off-road-trip We had a great morning traveling off-road with Luc who is from Belgium.Very knowledgeable about the area, speaks English very well, nice guide. Information on his trip is in the hotel lobby.
DO NOT STAY AT THE SAN CARLOS PLAZA HOTEL The lobby is great and it stops there. The room was dirty and in need of repairs. There were no screens on the windows, the beds were like sleeping on a concrete slab, the air conditioner had only one setting very cold. The water was very hot at all times and the water pressure was very poor. The food was over priced and you could not take any food or drinks to your room, you were stopped at the door. The security was very poor, someone walked into your room from the staff when we were there and our friends room had money taken from it after all the drawer were gone thur. There are no little shops to shop in around the town like before, and most of the beachs now have large hotels or house on them,so a beach dive can not be done any more.
Don't be afraid to drive a rental car here. You can rent either a Hertz or a Budget car at the small airport in Guaymas. The signs going towards the San Carlos Plaza are in English directing you staight to the resort. There's not much traffic, but just be sure to get Mexican Insurance just in case. With a car, you can drive around the bays and marina areas and visit the musums in Guaymas. You won't be trapped at the hotel.
