Top Local Tips for Whitehorse

Outside of Whitehorse We drove the "Golden Circle" from Haines to Skagway, stopping in Whitehorse on the way. It was a beautiful drive highlighted by whitewater rafting on the Tatshenshini River (bet. Haines and Haines Junction) with Tatshenshini Expediting Company and canoeing on Spirit Lake (bet. Whitehorse and Skagway). I cannot say enough good things about both of these excursions - if you do this drive, they are both well worth it. We did find the Takhini hot springs to be overrated. The pool felt nice, but we only could spend about 30 minutes there before beginning to look like a raisin. There wasn't too much atmosphere and the pool didn't look like it had been cleaned in a while. I had heard that it was a don't miss, but if you do miss it, don't feel bad.

Come with an appetite We had surprisingly great dining in Whitehorse. A really fabulous Italian meal at Georgio's, with well prepped fare, good wine and some really good, efficient and stunningly gorgeous waitresses. Also a fun and fabulous meal at Klondike Rib and Salmon BBQ.
