We have been going up to Harfang Des Neiges every New Year for the past 2years! We love it! Warm and cozy rooms, and courteous friendly owner, a must visit! We brought friends up with us this year, and they loved it!

We have spent lots of time going there for the past 6,7 years either for romantic escape or just enjoying some rest in the Laurentides. We just spent couple of days there last week, and here are my comments: -The rooms: lower rooms (rooms 1 to 5) are different from the ones on upper floors. I saw that ppl here were complaining that they did not get the rooms that appear on their ads. The rooms you see on the advertisement are the lower rooms, the ones on the upper floors are not. Everytime I go there, I always alternate between the lower and upper rooms. The lower rooms are a bit somber, but offer the great advantage of having the lake (in summer) / the white snowy frozen lake (in winter). The upper rooms are bigger, offers more intimacy (since you do not get the bed right in front of you as soon as you open the door), gets more penetration of natural light and look newer than the lower ones. Included with my reviews are pictures of lower rooms. All the rooms are basic but comfortable and suitable for romance: big jaccuzi for 2, fireplace. The fridge comes empty, but better have one than nothing. You have an Iron as well. Only 2 complaints would be (1)rooms can be very noisy on very busy nights (2)cleaning service basically clean the jacuzzi, replaces the towels BUT wont vacuum the carpet/floor...and they just replace the sheets on the bed (that means, make sure you've wiped any dust from the sheets yourself. -Restaurant: the menus is simply basic, amateurish and the cuisine would need a big reality check (they served some all-purpose shrimp you find at the corner store, a steak that's as spongy as uninspired and tasteless). I never would have imagine paying for such food in my life. The hotel is managed by a hard working Romanian family, but here, hard work does seriously not pay. They need to rush and find a serious cook asap. The restaurant is a serious big zero and what's that horrific idea of not serving breakfast in rooms in a romantic package...?? It's common to get your breakfast in your room nowadays and even more relevant on a romantic package! They badly need to rethink everything here: from serving a nice continental breakfast in rooms on romantic packages to finding a serious cook and start serving some serious cuisine. This small hotel has known better days, but if the new owners are willing to seriously make it shine again (that would need a drastic change though..see my previous comments), it could become the best well kept gem ot once used to be.

My wife and I decided to go during off season. They had a great special during the summer months of $90 per night which included a 5 course meal with the room. The food was excellent, the staff enjoyable always with a smile and the rooms although not as shown exactly in the pictures were still warm, pleasant, clean and certianly worth the money. This place is more like a motel than a hotel, but it was still a great weekend away.

The rooms they show you are not the rooms you're gonna get. They are just that show-rooms.The actual rooms are depresive and much worse. Bathroom sink not working for 24 hours. Bathroom door not closing at all! Service is with a smile but they charge you for that and they do nothing for your money. They advertise for couples and quiet but hardly could sleep because of the loud groups of neighbours. Certanly not couples. Look elsewhere.
