This is to express my appreciation to the Front Desk Manager for finding my wallet and returning it to me. She is to be commended. I was extremely pleased with the service we received at this hotel. We will recommend this hotel to our friends. Thank you, Sandy Baker (stayed at this hotel August 25-28, 2004).

Historical Traveller Reviews of Hilton Quebec Hotel

Great Location Just Outside the Wall

from passiontravel
Just spent a great weekend in Quebec City. Hotel is convenient to Port St. Jean, Port St. Louis and Grand Allee. Hotel accommodations are comfortable, clean and average. Hotel has 4 diamond rating from AAA, a 3.5 would be more appropriate. Great workout facility and outdoor pool. Would stay here again.

Not up to snuff

from A TripAdvisor Member
My family recently stayed at the Hilton during a short visit to Quebec. As promissed, the view of the old city from our 10th floor room was beautiful. The front desk staff were polite and helpful, despite some of the reviews I read that suggested otherwise. The room was a good size and clean. The bed was comfortable, though it does not compare to the "sweet sleeper" bed I recently slept on at a Sheraton Hotel. The room furnishings were disappointing - nothing seemed to match, the were dents and nicks in the furniture, and it looked like the room was thrown together with items purchased at a rummage sale. The bathroom was nice, but the towels were thinner than the 20 year old towels I get at my gym! If you stay here, bring your own towels - trust me.
Overall, the hotel was fine, though I would try another (preferably a boutique hotel) or maybe the Loews or Marriot on my next trip to Quebec.

Quite Fine...

from Firewind
I stayed at the Hilton this last weekend, and it was quite fine -- decor, location, and especially the view: Wow! I travel frequently, stay in many hotels -- mainly Hiltons and Hyatts -- and this was near the top, not counting resorts. One unsung advantage: If you're planning to drive up to see the sites along the St. Lawrence -- and they are beautiful -- you can just roll straight down the hill from the hotel, and you're on the highway (not that you can get lost in Quebec). And I think Quebec City is one of the most under-rated destinations in north America. Again: Wow!

Beautiful hotel, lovely city

from mtl
We stayed in an executive suite and I can't complain about a thing. The bed was comfy, linens were crisp, and the room was very clean. The view was amazing and room service was perfect.
Food court right around corner and everything else is in walking distance.

I really find it unimaginable that someone would complain about the hotel itself. It was lovely and spotless.

The Best Hotel in Quebec City

from A TripAdvisor Member
I had an amazing stay here in July 2004. After actually visiting, I am convinced this hotel is the best location in Quebec City. You can walk to Rue St. Jean which is a great shopping/dining street. Also Grand Allee Avenue, which is like a famous street in Paris is only a block away. The entrance to the walled city is right across the street. This is probably the most central location. Quebec is a beautiful, quaint city. This hotel is very close to old city restaurants and is a much better value than the Frontenac. Plus, there are a lot of great sites outside the wall.

As for the hotel itself, it was perfect once again. I had an amazing view of the old city from the 9th floor (there are 23 in total). The room had modern furnishings and was extremely clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were recently renovated with granite countertops. The hotel was quiet and I was able to sleep well both nights of my stay.

There is a heated outdoor pool on the second floor. The views are great from the terrace. Pool was large and clean.

When you arrive at the hotel, you first enter into a grand lobby. There is the Allegro restaurant off the lobby. It was a little bit expensive, but if you can get breakfast with your room rate, it is excellent. Also there is a bar onsite.

The hotel connects to an underground mall linking it to the Delta hotel and Convention center. It is easy to park in the mall's garage. Very convienent hotel. What more could you expect from this hilton.

Disappointing

from gggaut
I have stayed in many of the Hiltons chain hotels around the US but the Quebec City location was so far the least appealing.
Our reservations were wrong, 2 rooms for 2 people, and the receptionist was very unfriendly about the whole mess.
The concierge was more concerned on telling us what we cannot do, instead of helping us.
The room reminded me of a any roadside motel than a Hilton. The mattress was so used up that lying in bed you kept sliding off to the edge of the bed.
The food in the restaurant was mediocre, but then the price was not too bad.

The good thing about the hotel is the location and the view from the room.

Great view/average hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
I have never stayed at a Hilton before so I was expecting a more than an average hotel. The view and location was as good as it gets.We had an executive class room for 4 nights, which includes continental breakfast ( coffee, juice, pasteries muffins, and fruit) Nothing hot. Also included was open bar from 5-11pm with good snacks 5-7pm.
Room and breakfast was below average even though we paid $315 plus taxes CDN. When we asked about extra room service charges on our bill.
It turned out to be for the coffee in the room.(you are only allowed 1 per day. the rest are $2.00).
The parlament buildings are next door with free tours and the dinning room is open to the public.
The old city is great but very hilly' your legs will be hurting, but it is a must to see.

Nice Lodging

from janteach50
This hotel was great. It was within walking distance from Old Quebec City, has a wonderful restaurant, and the staff was warm and friendly. they had no trouble conversing with us in English. The room was clean and views of Old Quebec City were great!

Comfortable, Great Value, Good Location

from ejan
We stayed for 4 nights in August. At first, we were disappointed - room didn't look like anything special. But it turned out to be a very comfortable and convenient hotel. The AC system was excellent, you could adjust the temp to exact degree F, and put the fan on any one of 4 settings. The maid service was prompt. No problems. We didn't have any problem with the beds (2 dbls) connecting to another room with 2 dbls for our kids. The pool was very nice, heated. The location was great, for being outside the walled city. We took the escalator down 3 levels, and out that door for easiest entrance to the walled city. Or you can walk over to Port St. Louis (past Parliament), if you want to get closer to Funicular/Steps to lower town. Try to eat at Parliament for breakfast (excellent and very cheap!) Also, make sure you check out Plains of Abraham park - beautiful! We loved Quebec City, and for only $93 US per room per night (pre-paid rate on Hilton website), this hotel was a great deal!

NOT up to Hilton standards, disappointing

from SMMV
This is NOT your typical Hilton. As a HH member, I stay at Hiltons all over the world - generally the standard is high and the service impeccable. Quebec is the exception to the rule. Despite booking and confirming rooms FOUR months in advance, we were given a room with one bed instead of 2. On the second day, after housekeeping had done our rooms, we were having a nap and a maid promptly let herself in and said "just wanted to make sure everything was ok" - WHAT kind of practice is this????? Have never encountered such a thing in my life. Upon arrival we booked a massage for THREE days later. When we went down to the fitness floor for our massages at 8am we were told "couldnt find a masseur, sorry" - that was the explanation we got. Thanks for letting us know earlier. Was this a motel 8 or a Hilton???!!!!! Staff werent rude but basically just couldnt care less. I would NOT stay here again....

Top Local Tips for Quebec City

Cultured Quebec Quite a cultured city particularly with Vieux Quebec to visit and it's French style - good restaurants and many historis sites

Let Eat lots of good restaurant choices, people are very friendly

Go to VooDoo Lounge The Voodoo Restaraunt was one of my top 10 dining experiences ever. The food was phenomenal. The crowd and music were modern- trance and lounge. And you get free access to a great club afterwards.
