A Location Bonus

We have just returned from a week in Quebec City staying at the Courtyard Marriot. Although we had wanted to experience this wonderful city by staying at a smaller more enchanting Inn within the walls of the Old City, we were not disappointed with the Courtyard. Location was perfect! Less than 100 yards to St. Jean's Gate and a gateway too many of the wonderful shops, pubs and cafe's of the Old City. We had decided not to eat at the hotel, since there were so many great places to choose from within short walking distance. On the first day the Concierge pointed us to great breakfast spot just across the main street behind the hotel, which afterwards led us to explore the many fascinating streets outside to the west of the Old City and up to the Grande Allee. As a result we had found several other wonderful places to eat and relax in addition to those we came across inside the walled city.

We found that this conveniently located hotel gave us a great start to each day regardless of which direction we decided to go exploring and would recommend it to anyone visiting this enchanting city. Only draw back is that if you have children, there is no pool in the hotel.

We stayed there July 16 and July 17. Very nice hotel all around and real close to all the activities. The hotel staff was great!
My only slight complaint is the restaurant. It's very expensive and somewhat formal. I came in with my wife and 2 kids after a hot day of touring the old city in shorts and tee shirts. Our service wasn't as good as some of the other people there. We would have been better off eating in one of the bistros a few blocks away.

Warm, Inviting and Friendly

My mother and I stayed at the Coutyard in Jul 05 during the summer festival. You couldn't have asked for better since one of the main stages was in the courtyard accross from the hotel. This hotel was also close to the Old Port and two blocks from Grand Allee (which has many restaurants and dance clubs). I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Quebec and will stay there on my next trip.

Another Excellent Marriott Hotel

This is our third Marriott venue in succession and yet again, the location and the quality are first class.
I booked this as I always do, using the reports written on Trip Advisor and I am not disappointed.
The hotel is close to everything and I was impressed from the moment I walked in by the friendliness of the staff.
The room is well furnished and also includes a fridge and free high speed internet access - I write these reports from the hotel room when everything is obviously fresh in my mind.
No complaints at all and if you are visiting this really interesting city, do not hesitate to stay at the Courtyard Marriott.

The perfect place for Quebec City!

We had the most wonderful time at this hotel; location-wise, it's a #10. Just steps from the entrance to the magical city. The refurbished building was so well done, it seemed brand new. The staff was unusually helpful, and we NEEDED help, since we don't speak French. We loved the whole Quebec City experience, largely due to this terrific hotel!

Everything was clean, in excellent condition, and very quiet. Our only problem: everything in the hotel is kind of "tight"--small spaces...when you check in, be sure to use the elevator in the rear...we could hardly get all our luggage on the one in front.

Trip Advisor members convinced me to try this hotel and I'm so appreciative!

Perfect Hotel and Perfect Staff!

I stayed at this hotel in April 05 and loved the place. Let me tell this is by far one of the best service I had on business trip. Lovely place. Rooms are very nice. The location is perfect. From now on, all my Quebec stays are at the Marriott Courtyard.

Great hotel, great price, great location

My husband and I stayed at this hotel during spring break 2005 based on recommendations on this site, and we were not disappointed. The location was great-right across the street from an ice skating rink and right outside the gate to the village. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They assisted us in booking massages at a nearby spa and making reservations at the revolving restaurant at Lowes (great views, so-so food and service btw). My only small complaint is that the buffet breakfast in the restaurant is overpriced, but this was not a large issue as there are so many great places to eat nearby.

Myself and my sister stayed here in October '04, Really nice place, nice rooms, as far as location goes, you couldn't ask for better, it is very convienant to parking, attractions, shopping, resturants all walking distance. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Stayed at the courtyard for winter carnival 05..WOW! could not have had a better location. The staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was great. By the next day they had our name down and addressed us by name. Our room was great! Overlooked the city. Most of the attractions were within walking distance...However the city is very hilly. Did not eat at the hotel..to many other great places to try..If you are going to winter carnival dress warm,while the weather was clear and great, the temperature never got out of the 20's. The night parade was really interesting (and cold)...if going take a tour as they will get you to a great location

We stayed here during winter carnaval and couldn't have had a better location. One of the venues (the skating rink) was right across the street, Bonhomme's ice castle was a couple of blocks up the road and the Plains of Abraham, where all the action is, is just beyond that. The old city is just steps away. The hotel was very nice, staff were friendly and our stay was great.

Top Local Tips for Quebec City

Valcartier Village Vacances 20+ minutes from Quebec. It's a water park that is used for tubing in the winter! (We're from New England and had never seen or heard of anything like this!) Approx $25 for all day (most days it's open 10-10) tubing (single), rafting (looks like a rubber boat, seats at least 10), or tornado (round inflatable tube seats 10). Price includes skating on a frozen lazy river. It could be described as a ski area, but for tubing. Check out the videos on YouTube. Most of the announcements are in French, but if you don't speak the language, the employees all speak a little english (you will be fine). It's all very safe. It's family friendly, kid friendly, great for teenagers who need a change of pace from museums, shops, and culture.

Don't plan too much We found really good restaurants simply by walking around and looking at menus (which are almost always posted outside). Keep an open mind, and you will eat amazingly.

Isle d'Orleans Day Trip A day trip (3 to 6 hours) to visit Montmercy Falls and Isle d'Orleans was a nice break from the sometimes frenetic street life of the old city.
