The Auberge St. Louis is a small, friendly hotel in the heart of Old Quebec City. It is not a fancy hotel, but it is clean, well kept and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are no elevators, so getting luggage up to the third floor may be a challange for the elderly. Most of the rooms are air-conditioned (an essential for summer time in Quebec). Despite being on Rue St. Louis, the rooms are quiet. Guests receive coupons for breakfast at a local restaurant, the Petit Chateau, about a two minute walk from the hotel. The food there is good and plentiful (in the evenings they serve a wonderful fondue dinner). Parking is available two blocks from the hotel, at a rate of $14.00 per day. Everything within the old city is in walking distance of the hotel. Local shops, restaurants, galleries, etc. are great. Grand Alle, a continuation of Rue St. Louis, is full of sidewalk cafes, restaurants and bars, and is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine and people-watch.
