Simply the Best!

What a find!

Suburb central old town location, charming rooms with European sophistication, impeccably clean, soundproofed from street noise, lovely indoor/outdoor dining, Quebec style cuisine, polite attentive service, more than fair price, breathtaking views, breakfast included and parking nearby at $12.00/day.

Who could ask for more?

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

from EllenAdena
We stayed in the two connecting rooms on the second floor of the Hotel for four nights in mid-July. First, the really good parts: the shower in the smaller of the two rooms was the best my husband and I have ever experienced in our travels around the world. It was huge, the pressure was strong and steady and the temperature was easy to control and never varied from the chosen setting! The rooms were both a nice size and the larger of the two rooms with two beds was really spacious. The internet was not wireless but it was fast. All of the staff were warm and friendly. The location was perfect for exploring the City - we could walk everywhere!

Second, the bad parts: the beds were either extremely small queen size beds or actually double beds - the harsh metal frames protruded so much that we hit our toes and ankles on the metal - the beds were simply uncomfortable for two people. The sparseness of the rooms meant that there were no dresser drawers, only a locker size strorage space in each room that was attached to the "armoire" housing the small refrigerator and the tv - this forced us to keep our clothing in our luggage. The lighting in the rooms was harsh and inflexible - for example, if you wanted the light on next to the bed, you had to have the light on bordering the full length mirror in the room. In the mornings, the Hotel Staff started cleaning and talking very loudly in the Hallway outside our rooms with no apparent regard for sleeping guests.

Third, the ugly part: our rooms had four large windows overlooking a small "courtyard" that was apparently a Hotel Staff "Break" Area - we looked down upon overflowing dirty ashtrays, a corroding metal roof, broken chairs and a large plastic bottle that had ben discarded haphazardly on the ground. The staff members were quite loud at times.

We really wanted to love this Hotel but we never felt quite comfortable enough in our rooms. We would look for other options in Quebec.

Great City to Visit

from AngelaR
This was my second visit to Quebec City, Canada June 13 - 17, 2005 and remembered it just as it was ten years ago. I stayed at the quaint Hotel Sainte-Anne on 32 rue sainte-anne with 28 newly renovated rooms. This included a continental breakfast which was very good and the service was friendly and excellent. The staff could not do enough for you. I had 4 days of rain but saw everything there was to see around the city and had authentic Canadian food at the Ancien Canadiens restaurant which was very good too. The hotel was excellent and within walking distance to everything. The location surpassed the price which was equally reasonable.

Whether you spoke English or tried your French everyone smiled at you.

I highly recommend the hotel and a good place to visit but check the weather forecast before planning.

Enjoy

Sainte-Anne Hotel- a perfect 10+

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Sainte Anne Hotel. We have nothing but great things to say about the hotel, staff and location. The hotel is old world from the outside, with an urban feeling on the inside. It is comfortable and quiet. There is however not alot of counter space in the bathrooms as the sink takes up most of the vanity. The street outside the hotel is pedestrian only. This is great. There are extremely talented street performers outside the hotel. One could sit outside the hotel with drinks and be entertained all day. We were able to walk around old Quebec City without taking a taxi as the hotel is in a perfect location. Staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and friendly. We would rush back to this hotel. The price is extremely reasonable. We regret not staying longer!!

Better than the Frontenac!!

from sofapillio
The Sainte-Anne hotel was a delightful surprise when we arrived in Quebec city! We stayed for two nights in a lovely suite with beamed ceilings, exposed brick and a luxurious bathroom with a soaker tub. The staff was excellent, the food delicious, the best location in town! Free high speed internet and wonderful bilingual staff!! The next three nights at the Frontenac were a dissapointment in comparison. We highly recommend this gem of a hotel!!!

Nice room, great location, great service

Just got back from Quebec and the Hotel St. Anne was an excellent choice. Terrific location...nice, clean rooms, and best of all -- Bernard...the front desk assistant -- was incredible! He really made our stay...very friendly and helpful. When you go there be sure to ask for him. Close to many nice restaurants and the Old Port -- the location was wonderful. Would highly recommend it.

A good stay

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at Sainte Anne for one night in May. The decor is Scandinavian beautiful - dark surfaces and well-placed lighting. Service was first-rate. The bed was quite comfortable and the bathroom was clean and very modern. The breakfast area was bright and comfortable and the breakfast was quite good, if somewhat limited in selection. The location is unbeatable and the municipal parking garage is closeby - only those very heavy-laden with luggage would notice the distance. Our room was rather small though it was a superior. The price was reasonable compared to the rest of Quebec. A standard room would have been a little too small for our comfort. Combine the smart decor, the location, the cleanliness and comfort, and the outstanding service, and this hotel is a winner in Quebec.

Great Hotel, Great Staff, Great Stay

This was one of the best hotels I have seen. I definately recommend upgrading your room, for the extra $20/night CDN it was well worth it to us. The view from the room was amazing and the room was huge for the money. The staff is highly knowledgable about the area and very helpful especially the girl who worked the desk nights when we stayed there. We traveled to the Casino de Chalevoix and she went as far to print out directions for us and give us general directions. She also did the same for area bars and nightime attractions. Excellent hotel and excellent service I cannot say enough.

ve stayed in..

..and I've stayed in many. Perfectly located, a very sweet, stylish hotel with polite and accomodating staff. Having walked around Quebec we decided this was the best there was. It has a personal European feel with all the thought that goes into great North American hotel service instilled. We stayed with a 2 year old and it was perfect for the little guest who was made to feel very welcome.

Roomy, stylish boutique hotel

from AshleaM
Wow. This hotel is an excellent find in the heart of old Quebec City. It's across the street from the Frontenac yet at a fraction of the price. Also, rooms are large with a dark-wood, Scandinavian luxury feel. The bathroom and shower were modern and very well designed. Our accomodations were so nice that I'd hate to use the word "value" to describe this hotel, but we could not believe what a hidden gem the Sainte-Anne is. Also, they let us park in the pedestrian street directly in front of the hotel to load and unload.
