Top Local Tips for Montreal

getting into downtown from the airport It's a pain to get to downtown Montreal from the airport - I ended up taking 2 buses and the metro. It is worth it however, because it's very cheap and you'll very quickly familiarise yourself with the public transport system. From the airport take STM bus number 204 (you need to pay the exact fare - $2.75 and remember to get a transfer from the driver). The bus leaves from outside arrivals every half hour to Gare Dorval (Dorval train station). You should check with the driver which direction he is going in, as both bus routes stop at the same pier. From Dorval, use the transfer ticket to catch express bus no. 211/221 to the Lionel-Groulx métro (subway). Your transfer will then let you into the métro and take you downtown.

Things to do -Go to Pino's restaurant! People are friendly, food was great and sit on the terrace overlooking the city it's amazing. Eggspectation is a great place to have breakfast at any time of day. The manager or owner? is fantastic and full of energy. The waiters are fun, helpful and speak English! If you want to go clubbing go down to St. Laurent st , particularly if you are looking for an older crowd (23 and up). Check out the underground city. Enter through Simon's on rue st. Catherine and you'll begin on a long shopping adventure with what seems to be seven malls, 5-6 floors each that takes about 2 full days to complete! Great fun! Also check out the museum of modern arts (on sherbrooke I think) great experience!
