This hotel was listed on the brochure for a conference that I was attending in Montreal last month. It was close to the conference site, featured suites with a small kitchen and looked good on it's website, so a colleague and I decided to share a suite there in order to save some money. We thought it would be great to be able to have breakfast in our suite before the long days of the conference and to have a bit more room that just having a regular hotel room. When we got there, the furniture looked shabby and the decor of our room was not at all like the photos we had seen on the website. Each morning that I was there, I woke up with some spots, but it took us a few days to figure out what was happening. We were not actually sure until my colleague actually saw a bug and some blood in her bed. I had so many spots that several people at the conference asked me what was wrong. I asked the hotel staff to check the room and got a response that bedbugs were a problem in "all the hotels in Montreal". I got a small note of apology and a tiny box of chocolates (9 miniatures). We asked for and received a move to another room. When we checked out the clerk on duty did not even know that we had moved, nor had she received any instructions from management about how to handle our bill. No manager was on duty and we had no choice but to pay the full amount. Since leaving the hotel we have sent numerous emails and have called the hotel several times. We have been in touch with Montreal Public Health and the conference organizers. While everyone who has seen me and heard my story since I got home feels that I should have been compensated in some way by the hotel nothing has been received. I had a massive reaction to the bites and each one swelled up to the point that they looked like giant hives. I felt very sick, but couldn't afford to take time off of work. Stay away from this place!
