Loud A/C; man at the front desk was very rude and unhelpful. Actually saw him yell at two young college students. Breakfast is way overrated, lukewarm industrial strength coffe with tepid oj and bland muffin. Great location, but not a friendly or clean place.

I think the staff is greeat. I do call them and bring them presents from Boston. We actually hook up for dinner in the lobby. The location of the place is excellent. If you can;t afford the expensive hotes, suck it up and accept you probably can't stay in a better place. Nobody can make happy miserable people, and $70/nigh will not pay the price.

Dirty, Small, and Overpriced

I have been to Montreal several times before and stayed at budget motels every time. I have been to motels where the toilet was shared and there was no phone in the room. This hotel did have a bathroom in the room as well as a phone, but it was the worst experience by far. First, the sheets were gross. There was a hair on my pillow, blood stains (I think) on my comforter, and my sister's blanket had tons of holes and rips. The staff was unfriendly and not at all helpful. It was such a negative experience that we cut our trip short and left after 2 nights....even though they had already charged my credit card for the entire stay and would not refund it all. They refunded half of it after 20 minutes of my trying to convince them. The only good thing about this place is the location, but it was not worth it!

Bad Choice

This had been a very, very bad choice on my part to even select this hotel for our 2 night stay in Montreal. I wish I had more time to read these reviews and select a better hotel. Somehow, considering the convenience of been located close to downtown and old port, I made a bad choice in choosing this hotel. The staff is not friendly at all. They don’t smile as they speak. They talk with you as if it is the most painful thing in the world to do. A hotel staff should be friendly, courteous and helpful. Especially because the guests are usually not from Local area. But the staff here is so aloof. I think the staff are family members. The rooms are so dirty. The bed sheets seem as if they haven’t been washed since previous occupants left, because it contains pieces of hair. The blankets had cigarette burns on them. The pillows are rock hard. The picture above the bed is crooked and was about to fall off the wall. The bathroom is so cramped. You can’t just sit on the commode without the toilet tissue roll rubbing on your face. The so called continental b'fast which was served is hardly enough to go by. My advice is, don’t waste time eating what the hotel provide, go out and enjoy b'fast at a restaurant nearby. There are plenty to find on Rue Denis. The parking lot is small and above all, they charge $10 for parking. So altogether with Room rate + Tax + Parking; an average rate for a night comes to about $100. You should be able to find another better quality and better known hotel for this amount.

The Worst Hotel we have ever stayed

I selected this hotel because it was situated in downtown with most of the famous attractions within walking distance. Therefore the location was ideal. I and my husband stayed 2 nights. Our experience with the hotel during the 2 day stay is far from satisfying. First, the hotel staff is not friendly at all. They need to be taught how to smile! They did speak English which was very useful for us because we didn’t speak French. But the staff needs to be trained on “Personal Relations" skills. We found them very unfriendly and depressing. Although the hotel advertises them as "a friendly atmosphere with outstanding service", they are far from it. The rooms were small but manageable for a few nights’ sleep. I found the room and the bathroom to be surprisingly cleaner than expected. The free-continental b'fast cannot be called a “continental b'fast” at all. It is either one muffin or one croissant. Not both! The b’fast was served by one of the staff. Why can’t they allow the guests to serve themselves? On both days that we went to get b’fast, the person who served the tea and croissant spilled the tea on my tray. I found them to be very clumsy and careless. How can this happen on both days??? Anyway, he did not offer to change my wet tray or the croissant. He just apologized and said he is “new” and offered an additional napkin! For parking, they charge $10 a day. If you park your car there, never, never hand your keys to the front desk. I was unlucky enough to hand them the keys so they car move the car within the car park. When I got in to the car the second day I found somebody has nipped my loose coins (kept to pay tolls) and a bag full of snacks away from the car and the hotel staff is clueless about it and wasn’t very helpful when approached. We have stayed at many other hotels in the past and this hotel is by far the worst.
