How is this place still operating?

This is, without doubt, the worst place I've ever stayed. The only reason we didn't immediately check out again was that it was the F1 weekend and everywhere in Montreal was fully booked. The only positive things I can say was that the staff (such as they were) were pleasant, the location was convenient and the bed sheets appeared to be clean. The tv had basically no reception, you couldn't use the closet because the door could't open in the cramped room, the ceiling fan was almost useless and I was afraid it was going to fall off on top of us, the windows let in no air. The room door was so poorly hung that there were big gaps on all sides and the lock could be opened just by leaning on the door. I don't know which was worse - the nightmarish decor (two shades of orange) or the ghastly smell (some kind of chemical cleaner?) which made us nauseous. We spent as little time in the room as possible and were only able to sleep at all with the aid of ear plugs and eye masks. The only thing going for this place is the convenient location if you're attending the F1. Never again!

Nightmare hotel

We will never ever spend a night in this hotel "eureka, Montreal". It was a nightmare for me and my husband. The rooms are very small, Smoke smell, the service is very bad, very noisy place and above of all :Not safe. There were police cars around the hotel because of the prostitutes and drug dealers "the atmosphere is inconvenient". there's no phone in the room even if we had the most expensive one. 3 TV channels without remote. Conclusion: don't Go there !!

The place is, quite bluntly, a brothel. Prostitutes and dealers walking in and out all night long and the staff couldn't care less. Try to avoid this place as much as possible.

Bad service, not clean... but the worst are the whores, pimps and drugs dealers that use most of the rooms there! Very bad. AVOID THIS PLACE!

The area in which the hotel is located in is very dirty, with a lot of weirdos roaming around. The hotel itself (unlike any I have visited) locks its front door at all times. They have a camera to screen its visitors and unlock the door with the buzzer. No parking is available for visitors and closest “public” parking is $15 per day.
Our room was very small (despite the fact we took one of the expensive ones), no a/c, tv with 3 working channels and very thin walls. People are arriving at all times of the day or night and it gets noisy even after 1-2 in the morning. Toilets are shared and there are 3 for the entire floor with 8-10 rooms. I had to wait to use them on several occasions. The service was poor, rooms very not cleaned although we stayed for more then one night and no fresh towels were offered.
On top of it all, the management has found us guilty of breaking a shower door and without notifying me has proceeded to charge my credit card $103.50 allegedly for work required. No invoice or any explanation was given and my repeated calls were not answered. I am currently considering legal action against the hotel.
AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COST.

Top Local Tips for Montreal

Metro Depending upon the amount of time you are there, it is best to buy a multi-day pass for the metro. We were there for 4 days and got a 3 day pass for $17 each. It was well worth it since it is unlimited usage and can be used for the subway or bus.

Some tips walking to destinations is much more scenic and exciting than taking cabs. Many historical sites are tucked away not visible from the road. If you are going in october make sure to bring a jacket its quite cold. Make sure to explore st. catherine street for it has the most entertainment. Also, walking to old montreal through china town is really fun.
