I really advise you not to go there, I stayed there a month in 2010. the place is dump you can see all the electric wires situated up of you also the rooms are smilly. Do NOT trust they, They display misleading photos of nice modern furnished apartments. I made the mistake of believing the Berri Suites website. there were no telephone I asked repeatedly for a phone and the reception lady told me if I needed one I would have to ask another client!. In addition the lady during the check out took some of the deposit although the apartment was clean.
it is a misrable hotel.

I had an experience similar to many others reviewing this place. I didn't read reviews, saw the pictures online and booked/paid online too. What a mistake! This place is a dump: it smells bad; the furniture is old and broken down; the rooms aren't equipped as promised; the staff are sullen and unprofessional. I couldn't stay a single night, and argued via email with Berri Suites for a couple of weeks for a refund, to no avail. I eventually got a full refund from my credit card company. Lesson learned: always read reviews!!

I stayed here in June 2007. The photos they display on their website, are some what misleading. However, you have to put this into perspective, its is abit run down, but there didnt seem to be any major problems with it. Another thing to remember is that it costs $40 a night, and you get exactly what you pay for. The only slight problem is the caretaker only able to speak French, but I managed to mudle through this, and survived! If you are after luxury, you will be dissapointed, but for the price you shouldn't expect luxury. I enjoyed my stay there, and the location is excellent. I was there for the grandprix weekend, so this was way cheaper than any hotel.

I do not share the views of this hotel. It is reasonably priced and very clean, perfect location. If you are looking for an average, clean, downtown location in Montréal under 120$ I would recommend this spot may be for you.

Please do not go here. This is a scam. The photos are not of these apartments. The place is disgusting and I did not stay. Now they wont give me my money back.
The place is worse than a doss house and nearly wrecked our family holiday. They made us wait 4 hours to see the room and then pretended that they had nothing to do with the booking or money.

Rats in the basement...

I have made a reservation in the net for one month. I thought it was such a nice place in the website but when I got there, I have realized the pictures were false. At first the rude landlord shown me a very small room with old furniture I didn't want it than he shown me a nicer room in the basement which was bigger and nicer but still not like the photos in the website but it was clean. The bathroom was very small. I told him I want it for 1 week only and he agreed. Everything was fine but after 3 days I have heard noise somewhere in the kitchen and in the wall. The fourth day I went to bed at 3am and 10 min after I turned off the light I heard some plastic bags noise and noise on the ground. I was in the bed and I turned my head to check and I saw a big rat beside my suitcase. I have screen and he ran out in the kitchen and disappeared. I was not able to sleep so I went to see the landlord and he told me it was too late come back tomorrow. I didn't have choice to stay cause I was low in cash after all my shopping. I came back in the morning and he putted a rattrap with cheese in the kitchen. He told me if you hear a rat screaming let me know I'll come get it. I was disgusted. A few hours later I have heard a big noise and screaming I told him and we went back in the apartment. He said he have to wait a few minutes to make sure he is dead. He took the trap rats with his bare hand and he said it's ok he's dead now and he left with the trap. Day number 6 at night I have heard another big noise and a rats screaming in the kitchen but I have checked everywhere and there is no trap and no rats. I told the landlord and he told me don't worry that's not in your kitchen that's behind the wall of your kitchen there is a heat and storage room and I have put another trap there. That's why! He said the rats don't come from the inside but from the outside. What a lie! It was a nightmare!

I wish I read the reviews before booking this.

I went to the Montréal Grandprix race end of august 2006. This was a great location as it was steps away from the metro underground station what would only take us 10 min to get to the event venue on the island.

I booked for a room with 2 double beds, and made the note on the booking.
I called hours in advance to confirm my booking and asked to have them read me what was booked. They said 1 double bed. I told them to read my comments. And they said oh sorry, just come and we'll sort it out. I came and was given 1 double bed. I insisted I had already made 2 arrangements while booking and also while calling to confirm but at this point they had nothing available. I don't know why and how they would try and slide this fast one on me.. Eventually I was told they OVERBOOKED.. This is not new news to me as far as hotels but I'm not a fan of it considering I had made arrangements while on the phone while booking and confirming to get something. If I knew they could not or would not be able to keep their end of the agreement then I would not have booked with them. They didn't offer a discount but rather offered to move me to a double room for my second nite stay and give me 2 vouchers for continental breakfast their onsite restaurant. I requested to speak to the manager but was told he was out for the week, I contacted them a week a later and they didn't contact me back. Perhaps they didn't get my message but either way I was not pleased with the service. I'm a nice guy and don't give the front desk staff too much of a hard time knowing they're just doing their jobs but I don't appreciate poor service, they just keep saying "what do u want me to do sir, there are no rooms?" on several occasions I said, make me an offer to try and correct this hotels mix-up, after having failed me on 3 occasions to meet my requirements prior to booking.

There is only one elevator that goes up, the other tends to be locked for use to access the basement parking, since there is no stair access to the basement.

Parking is limited indoors to about 15 spots underground, you'll have to park on the parking lot next door which is outdoors and run by another company, where you will have to leave your key with the front desk overnite so they can pack tones of cars in their tiny parking lot. Give them about 45min head start prior to leaving so they can move all the cars to get to yours.

The TV's in the room were smaller then average. I was in two rooms and they both had a small TV that seemed to be of the older style and about 20inch max.
When I was upgraded to the 2 double bed room we also had a small TV, this was a surprise, as I would expect something average. I wasn't impressed.

The location is good as there are restaurants and the metro access is nearby. St.Catherines Street is along the hotel so u can go for walks and explore the city.

I would not and will not go back to this hotel. They failed.

This place is a complete dump and does not look anything like the website - they seem to have just scanned pictures from an Ikea catalog. The janitor doesn't speak English and I had trouble communicating with him at check-in. The only good thing about Berry Suites is the location. If you have no other choice, try not to make a reservation for a long time. You'll be able to find a better place within a couple of days - the area has many decent B&Bs.

Though the hotel staff we're alright and my room had not troubles
I was very disturbed by the working of the restaurant
I received very poor service from a man named Mario, who informed me that "there are places that handle cripples better down on crescent street" he was also being very rude to some young girls
I would recommend staying away from that Italian restaurant hell

Great information centre The main Information Centre is great. We spent about 20 minutes with a very knowledgeable and helpful young lady who arranged a three day trip for us on the spot. If we had known, we might have relied on them to find us accommodation in the city. We didn't realise at the time, but there is a direct free-phone service from the UK
