My husband Joe and I got married May 8/2010 but had to save for a year to pay for a nice honeymoon. While looking online, I came across Kindred Spirits and their "Anne" package. I have been an Anne/Lucy Maud Montgomery fan since I was 5. This package was a dream come true for me. We have never been to PEI before so after a few emails and phone calls, I decided to book here. The entire experience was a dream come true!! We left from Sherbrooke, Quebec on July 12th early am to set out for Cavendish. From the eastern part of Quebec and most of the way from New Brunswick we experienced the worst thunderstorms I had ever seen. I contacted the hotel (Jaclyn) to let her know about our delay then ended up having to call her after 10 to say that the roads were so bad that we decided to pull over and spend the night in our car in Oromocto, N.B. We left very early the next morning and ended up at Kindred Spirits at 8 am. The gourmet breakfast had just started and we were welcomed and sent in to eat. The food was amazing and the evening tea and cookies were very enjoyable and gave everyone a chance to meet their fellow travellers and share stories. I have never seen such friendly owners and staff anywhere. They are all to be commended on making my dreams come true - They are all true Kindred Spirits and I would not hesitate to recommend Kindred Spirits to anyone. I cannot wait to go back their someday !!! Trust me, this place is worth the prices you pay :-)

Top Local Tips for Cavendish

Cavendish Beach You can avoid the high parking fee by coming after six. If you just want to see the beach you can arrive after six. Also, many hotels have parking passes if you ask. This beach is also a great place for family pictures so bring clothes for the family to take a special picture.

What to do in Cavendish PEI National Park is a wonderful place to walk the beach and to watch the sunset over the water. Green Gables is a beautiful house and interesting to anyone who has read Anne of Green Gables. Avonlea is a fun place to explore and children will love the characters roaming around, the daily pig race and the childrens play center.

Spots we enjoyed having traveled in excess of 2000 miles to PEI driving all the way around the Island was too much for us but would have done had we flown into Charlottetown or Halifax,etc.IMHO Queens county where Cavendish(fictional Avonlea)is located is the prettiest given its rolling hills and beautifull beaches.PEI provincial park has great beaches within a few minutes of KS.Lot's of Anne related places to see also closeby.Not all tarnished with chain stores etc.Had our picnic lunch at Cabot Pro park which was splendid and try to get to Cape Tryon lighthouse by French River,although on a long dirt road the cliffs,sea caves,and scenery is fantastic,were by ourselves.We also enjoyed walking thru Dalvay by the sea and if anyone is an Anne/Avonlea fan that's the White Sands Hotel.Don't miss it!We will be back to this special island again someday I promise!
