My companion and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pantages. Walking into the hotel felt like an escape to another world. The warm environment was a definite change from the cold, rainy weather outside during our stay. The staff greeted us every time we came in, making us feel welcome and more elite than we were. My only complaint would be the dimness of the elevators and halls, similar to the W hotels. It's just not cool when you're trying to get your key to work. The rooms were perfect for a business traveler who was staffed on a project in the area. We didn't need the full kitchen and washer/dryer for a one-night stay. The rain shower and mood CD were a nice touch. I also appreciated having so many channels to choose from. With only one bed in most rooms, it would be hard for my girlfriend to do a spa weekend here. However, the good thing is that it discourages families. Keep in mind that we are late 20s/early 30s looking for a relaxing getaway. The spa wasn't ready during our visit, so we will definitely be returning.

Nobody's perfect, right? We seek out boutique hotels when traveling and rank Pantages very high on our personal scale. A few glitches, however... The internet station in the lobby could not connect to our Comcast email. The staff graciously allowed us to use their office connection with success. The lobby bar made the weakest scotch & soda we think we've ever experienced anywhere - but it was, after all, a martini bar. These are small glitches - it was great otherwise. Location, room, staff, 'feel', everything.

Boutique Standard Hotel - Terrific!

I stayed in Toronto twice for the first time five weeks ago (Summer 2004), at the Pantages Hotel, and rate it very highly indeed.
There were special rates available at the time as it was still new and did not yet offer room service etc. It is more like an all suite funky modern boutique hotel.
Free WiFi in the room, which was huge, with kitchen facilities and a great bathroom, including high quality shampoos etc.
Bed was amazingly comfortable with great sheets and bedding.
One thing I appreciated was that each room has a washer/dryer and they even provide free Tide and Bounce each day - great if you are staying a few days! Not sure if this is in every suite, though I stayed in two rooms and both had this facility.
Reception guy looked like a young Tom Cruise, all could not do enough to help and were very knowledgeable, friendly free high quality continental breakfast in the lobby was included.
Location is right next to the main shopping mall.
Check out the Egg restaurant across the street from the hotel - yummy!

Great Hotel, Get a Suite!

Pantages is great. It is excellent value for money (noted that the candian dollar is weak compared to the pound). It is close enough to everything so you can walk around the city, however far enough from the (semi-active) nightlife that you wouldnt realise you were in the city. The hotel wasnt finished when we stayed so I imagine prices will go up once work is completed (n.b. it isnt a building site nor is there any noise). We had a room that had a washer and dryer, very useful when on holiday for two weeks, and also a kitchen (which while part of the large bedroom) we could use for toast. My wife had reflexology which was "excellent" and again cheap. This place has some great ideas they give you a semiprecious gem stone each night instead of a chocolate. Housekeeping was great, free newspaper delivered to your door each morning, breakfast was real continential style with fresh OJ, proper coffee a selection of decent pastries etc. The *only* thing that I didnt like was the key cards to the rooms get deactivated by going through shop security scanners, so we had to get our cards reactivated. I am being picky now! Stay here if you can afford it as places that cost more wont be better.

Spending 2 Weeks in Canada we wanted to stay in a plush hotel for our last few days. Pantages looked like everything we wanted. We booked the Ambassador Suite as it was our annivarsary.
When we arrived there was a little sign saying to park inside. we went into the car park and realised ther was no cars there. Trying to manouver the car was a nightmare as it was all one way and no where to turn, unfortunately our car got scraped.
only after going in we were told to bring the car to the front of the hotel.....
We arrived at the reception after walking through dust from the building work that was going on. The decor was really nice and modern. Tina the receptionist was the only one there and we could see she was trying to do loads of things at once so our reception was a bit aloof. Anyhow eventually we got our keys only to be told that there was no room service and no resturant!! The rooms were great but we were dissapointed withthe lack of services. we decided it wasn't too bad as we had the tv and the spa. But it was short lived the tv was not accessing any movie channels and the spa was not fully functional. Seeing as we wanted to relax over the last few days in Canada it didn't seem as if it was going to happen. Tina didn't seem interested in our complaint and if we had known all these things we would never have booked!! We made a point to complain to the maager who was just as uninterested as the receptionist. But they did offer us some dinner vouchers in compensation.
All in all the hotel is really nice the staff however don't seem to have much customer service training. I would stay ther again only after making sure that all the facilities were working or booking a cheaper room!

Pantages is Great!

I spent four days this last week of my honeymoon at the Pantages. I really liked the decor, even some of the very expensive hotels don't have decor this nice. I loved the Pergo flooring, carpet flooring in hotels always seems a little icky.
We had very good service. The whirlpool, steam, and saua were closed for repairs, which was very disappointing.
There was some street repair work during the day, but it wasn't very loud, and I am a light sleeper.
Our rooms were kept clean while we left the room late, anywhere from 2 pm to 4 pm.
The toilets are low flow and that is why some guests have had problems, I'm guessing.
I would go back. There were younger people at this hotel, but it was never noisy.

Wonderful! My husband and I stayed at the Pantages Suites & Spa for our wedding anniversary. The front desk/concierge were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Adam was the best!!!! The pictures on expedia did not do the suites justice. They were "roomy", bed was nice and firm, and the decor although funky/modern not over the top. I must admit the hallways were a little dark but also artsy at the same time. We also enjoyed a spectacular couples massage at their spa (which is the entire 5th floor). As far as spas go this was the bomb!!! Before you enter you are treated to a rose water hand rinse complete with rose petals, then greeted and escorted to the changing rooms (with lockers, showers etc.) where we changed into plush robes & slippers, then escorted to one of the lounge areas complete with plush chairs and ottomans where we sipped sparkling fruit juices while we waited! I was in heaven. The massage was awesome and then we went back to our suite to take a well deserved nap because all this relaxation was hard work!!! The location was great, literally right around the corner from the Eaton Centre, the Senator Restaurant (although we did not eat there we will next time) and Top of the Senator where we enjoyed live jazz complete with awesome desserts, drinks & service. Pantages' continental breakfast (coffee & danish/croissants) is a nice touch but we also had breakfast right around the corner at Eggceptional's. I'm already checking the calendar to see when we can go back because their restaurant will be opening soon and I know we'll enjoy it just as much if not more!!!!

I can't complain about anything. I had a wonderful one-bedroom suite on the 14th floor, which had all the amenities of an apartment such as a full kitchen, washer/dryer (which I used), and large closets. The bedroom was small, but I didn't need anything bigger than that. I had the most comfortable bed! The location of the hotel is excellent since it is practically walking distance to many of Toronto’s attractions, and only a few seconds walk to the metro station. Breakfast was simple (OJ, coffee, and breakfast pastries), and I think the restaurant was not open when I was there in early August. The staff was nice and helpful. I could easily (and happily) stay there for months and not miss home. I didn’t have any of the problems that the other reviewers reported. I won’t stay anywhere else if I travel to Toronto again. Go and enjoy your stay.
Funky and different

Stayed there for a one night get-away from the kids with my wife. A refreshing change from the run-of-the-mill hotels. Funky design, comfy beds, full kitchen, great sound system with terrific in-house cd. Clean and staff helpful. Would go back.
ok stay but beaware of the hype

Just got back from a meeting in toronto. Stayed at hotel for 4 nights. I would say that this is not a luxury hotel as hyped on the toronto.com. I was not impressed at all. I reserved a ambassdor suites 1 month before I went to Toronto. Their internet site had nice picture of big room. But when I arrived, I was assigned a much smaller room with only queen size bed in the bedroom instead of a king. Their site said such suites should have a king bed. We did not had the table service for 4 in the room either as was hyped on the internet. The hotel amemites is at miniscule level next to none. The hotel staff are generally nice and helpful through. I would stay with much developped name (like Delta hotel) next time I go there.

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel.
I found it to be a very nice hotel, the staff was pretty friendly and helpful. The rooms are decorated contemporary, hardwood floors, full kitchen set, fridge, stove, microwave, it even has a clothes washer and dryer.
Can beat the location, it's a block from Eatons Centre and close to all major centres.
there is a small breakfast but a good enough selection to keep me happy. I don't expect a big continental breakfast, so it was more than enough.
Anything downtown is pricey, but overall I thought it was a great deal.
PS there have been a couple of negative reviews, we didn't experience those problems....

Goodtimes at the Pantages

So we stayed at the Pantages Hotel for Prince's Musicology Tour in Toronto and let me tell u something that hotel is pimpin. When we first arrived inside the room we were all instantly happy because we knew the party was on. The staff was completely cool and were down with us having a good lil party at their hotel. The two things the hotel needs to be perfect would be more ice and a swimming pool with a diving board. I'm not complaining though, this room was enough to satisfy my party.
Top Local Tips for Toronto
Great Food Check out Everest Restaurant...They have a taste of India and a taste of tibet menu, which is AMAZING, as well as a HUGE canadian/american menu....It's beautifully decorated and modern, and it's on Queen Street right across from the CityTv/Chum/Much Music building...If you go in the summer they have a patio and you can sit outside and watch all the activity of the area.
Payments Be sure the hold on your account has enough to cover the deposit of the room. This hotel held my card even though I paid through Expedia. Incurred fees that I should not have. Beware!
Great Steak If you are looking for a romantic or private dinner and you really enjoy steak or lobster. You have to eat at Barbarian Steak House (about two-three blocks from the hotel). I have been eating and drinking there for many years and it is simply the best. The only down fall is that it is really expensive. But it is worth it!

Sounds good right? Well, 2o minutes before we arrived I received a phone call telling me the water treatment wasn't available due to mechanical problems. They said they would discount the package since we were not locals and didn't have the option of returning. No biggie.
So we arrived 15 minutes prior to the rescheduled time for the rest of the treatments. The hostess/staff were harried and not at all relaxed to get us ready for a "relaxing" treatment.
As a person who has gotten massages at various locations around the world - these massages were shorter than 60 minutes and hardly even covered the full body missing important parts like the feet and legs.
The express pedicures were so "express" that they didn't completely take the polish off my nails. We were both hoping for some sort of leg or foot massage since there was none with the other and we thought they were trying to save time...very disappointing.
Next, but not last, I had to remind them of the wine and strawberries provided with the package. When it was served the white wine was warm, not room temperature or chilled as I would prefer, but warm. Yuck.
As we checked out I then found out the spa only planned on discounting us $10 off the entire package for the loss of two 45 minute water treatments. When I tried to tip the staff - they had no change. How convenient.
Basically, we arrived ready to be pampered and enjoy relaxing treatments but left upset by the lack of professional service and treatment in any form.
