Extra charges on visa...bad housekeeping

Had the room reserved for four days... left after 3!!! Worst hotel experience...bad customer service...

checked into hotel- had a problem with my visa after swiping it (not quite enough cash on it)so the grumpy manager asked for cash...i gave him $1000 cash...and the next day when using my visa at a store- it was rejected!!
yes.... the Hilton had put a hold on all the available cash on my visa too!!! when i went to complain about it - the manager (Dwight) seemed very annoyed by me!!! Its 8 days later and i still dont have access to the any of that cash on my visa!!!
And the housecleaning service was horrendious!!! Beds pulled up , not made up....table not even wiped... took our dirty towels and glasses but didnt replace them..no fresh coffee packets.....
we checked out a day early and went to another hotel even though the convention we were there for was being held at the hilton!!!!
I travel once a month for bussiness..and so do the rest of the people in my company....we will never stay at a hilton again!!!!

Not Bad

Very nice decor. Service was very good. Overall, the building is a little old, though. You would have to be pretty petty and picky if the minor things bothered you, i.e., caulk around tub isn't perfect, minor knicks in furniture, etc. Ruth's Chris steaks were awesome, as usual. Room service was good. Easy access to entertainment district, shopping, and the PATH system was very convenient. Definitely would recommend.

I stayed here for free on 29th December 04 using my hiltonhhonors points (which are well worth collecting). Check in was very quick and the concierge brought my luggage to my room.

The room was a very good size (a huge king bed) the bathroom was also nice, but not as clean as it could have been (pee pee still on the floor around the toilet).

A newspaper came to my room the next morning... I went for a buffet breakfast (not included in the free night) but I've had much better at the Novotel in Toronto - it was quite poor actually for the price charged.

Left my luggage with the concierge for the day and returned later to pick it up - no problems.

The Toronto Hilton is a great deal when you can get it through Priceline for $73 per night. Don't expect a newspaper in front of your door at this rate, but there are plenty down in the lobby, where Ovo offers pastries and juice to go with the coffee/tea available in your room.

The hotel's decor is holding up well since the 1999 renovation, and the rooms are exceptionally quiet and well laid out.

Only complaint is the lack of in-room safe, and no safe deposit boxes that can accommodate a laptop computer. Leaving same with bell-staff in the luggage storage room is asking for trouble, in my opinion.

Great location near to theater district, convention center & Eaton Centre shops.
Room was fine, but no upgrades to the executive floor for Gold members. The Executive lounge is very nice with an excellent breakfast and evening cocktail hour. Even the wine & liquor was without charge. Only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star is that even with my Gold staus I had to call for a robe. I also called for bottles of water, but that never came. Not a problem as I got a bottle at the executive lounge. Turn down service was provided without asking and the chocoates were very nice.

Stylish Hilton Value

I stayed here last week at the tail end of a business trip. I loved the modern architecture of the lobby and the scenic elevator that provides you glimpses of the Toronto skyline. The rooms are standard Hilton fare with good size desks for business travelers. We suffered a planned blackout on Saturday night for 5 hours and though the management provided flashlights, they should have offered free breakfast or some other token to reduce the inconvenience.

Good Short Stay

I stayed at the Hilton one night last week for business, as it is one of our recommended hotels, and would stay there again. The only negative was that my room wasn’t ready when I arrived mid afternoon but that happens and I wouldn’t hold it against the hotel. As I was there on business, I really didn’t get to use most of the facilities but what I did experience was positive. Public spaces are really nice and the service was quite efficient. My room was very large and completely redone but the most important thing was that the bed was comfortable. The décor in the bathroom was a bit odd/old in comparison to the rest of the hotel but all was clean and worked fine. Wake up call was on time. Good channel selection on the TV. As this was my first trip to Toronto, I can’t comment much on the location but can tell you that it is within walking distance of the financial district and there appears to be an entertainment district nearby as well. Overall, a good solid hotel and more interesting than the average Hilton.

Good but could do better

The Toronto Hilton is a large, modern hotel in the centre or Toronto, with large, well-maintained bedrooms. Minus points are awarded because this hotel, uniquely in my experience, does not upgrade Gold & Platinum Hhonors card holders to the Executive floor (although the Executive lounge is made available) and, unbelievably in this day and age, there are no workstations anywhere in this large hotel where guests can check e-mails.

Excellent overall

Excellent in every way. The lobby is sleek and modern; checkin was efficient and courteous; doormen always eager to get a cab or help with bags. The glass elevators have a killer view of Toronto. My room was spacious, beautifully decorated in a modern style, immaculate, and totally quiet--I thought there was no one else in the hotel.

My room rate included buffet breakfast, and what a treat that was. The coffee was excellent, the eggs Benedict addictive, and the service so warm and efficient.

The meeting rooms were well-furnished and attractive, and the banquet dinner excellent. All in all, an excellent hotel in an exciting city.

Modern and fun Hilton

Stayed at the TO Hilton in Aug. The room was humongous (compared to the Sheraton across the street) and the lobby was absolutely too cool and modern. The second floor had a terrace/pool/jacuzzi/fitness room and lovely tables and couches to hang and make long distance calls. Get a phone card from the grocery store next door (TO Express is good value) and call from the 2nd floor rather than your room.

Would stay here again. Great service and they let me check in at 9am and check out later too. Clean, Neutrogena products, lots of space, scenic elevator.

Top Local Tips for Toronto

Leverage the all day transit pass Each transit trip (subway, street car, bus, etc.) is $2.75, but you can buy an all-day pass that includes all forms of mass transit for just $8.50. Take 4 trips during the day and you've saved money. I highly recommend this if you will be using public transit.

Parking Parking in the Garage was expensive and there are plenty of cheaper places to park within reasonable walking distance.

family restaurant hard to find good family restaurant... I reccomend Casey's (near union station and university ave)... DO NOT GO TO the Debut! Cafe (King's st). the worst food and customer service I have ever had in my life!!!!
