I was a little skeptical after reading some other reviews and knowing a little about the neighbourhood, but I was wrong! Quiet area, close to downtown, rooms have everything you need, very clean, and great value for the Dollar. My brother and I chose here for our hotel to see the Bombers in the Grey Cup, and couldn't have been happier. Much nicer than even the Killarney Hotel!! And we haven't even been to the #1 Strip club in Canada on the main floor! Highly recommended for those looking for solid, cheap place to stay.

There are quite a few cheap hotels/hostels in Downtown Toronto...and I have stayed at a lot of them....some of them I will never stay at again.
But this was the first time I had stayed at Filmores, I was a little wary at first, but I had no where else to go...the neighborhood is not good and I was nervous about what to expect with the Stripclub on the first floor.
But the second I walked into the lobby I was very surprised.
The Hotel is clean and quiet and turned out to be very safe....I stayed for 2 weeks and I never had a single problem in the hotel. Outside the hotel is a different story...like much of Downtown Toronto, there are bums, drug addicts and crazy people all over the place.
The staff were helpful and pleasant and the rooms were clean and kept up well, especially for a budget hotel....everything worked and was in good shape.
Amenities are at a real minimum and Housekeeping is only once a week for long term guests....but what do you want?....this is one of the cheapest places to stay in Toronto... it is definitely better than most of the other places I have stayed in this price range....a lot better than some that charge a lot more.....and it's right down by all the action in the Downtown.
This is maybe the best choice for cheap hotels in Toronto for singles or couples....I just wouldn't bring kids to a hotel on top of a strip club....and I guess some of you guys out there have wives/girlfriends that wouldn't like the idea either.....but it's not like they stay in the hotel or rent out the rooms by the hour or anything like that.
I am going to be working on contract in Toronto later this year and I am definitely going to stay at Filmores again...I haven't found anything better at this price range.
