This Place Is Pretty Bad

Could not find my reservation but did find my son's reservation. Both made independently. Had reservation numbers screwed up. Room doors generally don't shut properly to engage the security strike - can open with any plastic card. There is virtually no air venting in washrooms - shower and the mirror is covered in condensation within seconds. Tub drain works very slowly - had to shower with water up around my ankles. There is a nice table with phone and lamp and room for the computer - but no outlet except across the room beside the bed - could easily place a power bar fed from behind the TV cabinet but they don't. The outlet mentioned above is so old and worn that plugs do not remain in the socket. Hair dryer makes the socket and cord heat up. The access door under the bathroom vanity was ajar by about two inches - and this is right beside where housekeeping would have to pick up my used towels. Appears that the houskeeping staff don't give a damn about the condition of the facility (however housekeeping did good job of cleaning and servicing the room.) While just about every other hotel has free high speed internet this property wants about $11.00 a twenty-four hour period. Outgoing telephone calls charged one dollar each. Long distance charged to the room is well over $2.00 for the first minute. The water faucet in the tub is somehow distorted and the water splashed onto the top surface of the tub and flows on to the floor. Housekeeping should see this when they clean the tub. The plastic knob on the faucet in the basin was loose the five days I stayed in the hotel. There is no air circulation in the room unless you want to make heat or cool. Windows do not open. My radio preference is a 50,000 watt AM station with their transmitter less than 30 miles east of the hotel. The clock radio in the room sounds like it is off station and is noisy. It is a digital radio and displays the correct frequency. Cheap radio. The hotel introductory card provided upon checkin - the one they stuff the room key card into - says that "I agree to pay $0.75 a day for the Globe and Mail newspaper - $ 1.50 on Saturday. Front desk says the paper is complementry. The plastic corner protector on the Serta materess is loose on the side of matress. Housekeeping should see and report this but did not during the five days I spent there. Good things - Hotel staff generally are polite, courteous and friendly. Orchid restaurant food and staff are good. Bellman named Seng is a very valuable asset for this hotel. Friendly, nice and very helpful. Could not ask for a nicer person.

This hotel is one of the best I've stayed in. Service is wonderful as the staff members are really accommodating and friendly. Every evening when I come back from a long, tiring day, everything is clean and neat. I would stay here next time!
