We ate at The Market Garden restaurant which had lots of good food to suit all tastes, excellent quality and again an outdoor arae to sit and eat. The hotel is not far from the sights of Toronto city including the CN Tower - we would recommend this hotel completely.

After a disasterous stay in 91, I stopped going there and would pay whatever extra costs were involved to stay somewhere better. Then finally in 2004 I was booked into the Chelsea as part of a business conference.
What a mistake that was. The room looked like it hadn't been renovated in years. The furniture was chipped and in poor repair, the carpet was stained and I had to wait 1 hour in the morning to get my room service breakfast that was cold when it arrived.
The staff seemed disinterested in my problems, or maybe they had simply heard them from too many people that they no longer cared. In any case, I will stay at other Delta Hotels but never again at the Chelsea.

Make sure you ask for a room with a balcony tho! The pool on the top floor is superb fun.. or sit in the jacuzzi watching out of the windows!
The bar is lovely, room is pure lush, location is great for shopping, resturants bars etc.
The staff are so polite and helpful - perfect holiday!

1. Guests paying in cash should be informed before making reservations that an additional $200.00 deposit will be required at check in time. This should also be in writing so there are no discrepancies.
2. Guests should also be informed that during such venues as the Caribana a wristband policy will be enforced and non-guests will not be permitted in the hotel after a specified time. This should be in writing as well.
3. Guests should also be informed at check in time, as I was that the entire visit is charged on the credit card no matter what. Even though this wasn't true the employees should receive additional training on the policies.
The Service:
1. Valet service should also come with a specified wait time. If the car doesn't arrive within 5 minutes of submission then some form of reward should be given for the lack of service.
2. When a car is dropped off there should be someone there to greet you, open the door, and park the car immediately. No one should have to sit in the car, wait for an attendant, or walk to a doorman to hand the keys over. A valet is an employee, as in a hotel or on a ship, who performs personal services for guests or passengers. It's a good idea to have your valet persons remember this definition.
The first receptionist was rude, unhelpful, and lied about the entire balance being charged because we were able to pay cash at the end of our visit. The manager on duty at check in time was not empathetic at all regarding the $200.00 deposit or wristband policy. The valet service was not worth the money. We were not greeted by anyone anytime we arrived. The wait time was ridiculous whether we were picking up or dropping off. This hotel had the absolute worst service I have ever experienced. As an adult I felt as if I was being treated like a child with a curfew. The wristband enforcement was pathetic and the additional deposit was deplorable. This hotel will never receive a recommendation from me nor will I ever visit this hotel for any reason in the future. I would rather stay in a motel than any Delta Chelsea establishment no matter where it is.

Our only complaint was noisy neighbors the first night we were there. The were gone the second night and we slept peacefully.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Delta Chelsea Hotel
Respite
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe room was clean, the halls quiet. I was able to enjoy the pool each morning prior to leaving for a busy day. The children's pool was having renovations done, and the four children who used the adult pool were well supervised. My stay at the Delta Chelsea was enjoyable, and I will consider staying there again for respite from a busy, demanding life.
Great Hotel
from A TripAdvisor Membernothing special
from A TripAdvisor MemberWallpaper peeling from walls, cracked tiles, etc. Parking is outrageous for the price and very hard to manuever especially with an extended cab truck. Woke up at 3am to a loud party going on in next room (person yelling at the top of his voice on balcony) called security which they promptly showed up. But noise continued off an on after security left.
We won't be back!!

from K-WhitneyVery popular place to stay
from simonharrisThat being said the staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms, athough clean and comfortable are looking a little tired. The Market Place eating area on the ground floor can get busy at breakfast time.
The Chelsea Express breakfast is good value and will set up for the day. Would i reccommend the place: the answer is yes. I will be back in Toronto in earlty 2004 and will be going back
Never Again!!
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe room was small, the TV was a puny 19 inch and did not work well [that is another story] . The bathtub was rotting. The balcony was okay but saw that it needed some repairs.
The underground parking was a nightmare to manoveur. Saw alot of paint on the turns!
I just thank God I got the govt rate...the usual rate is 179.
Next time it is the Bond Place Hotel, its small , cheap and I know what I am getting
Have no doubts
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe Delta Chelsea was terrific
from NeomyaValue vs Class
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe rooms were updated but found nicks, scapes and gouges on all of the furniture definetly not worth $205 canadian a night. The balcony view was nice but found the balcony with paint falling off and dirty. We had been reccomended the "tax free" promotional package which at the time made sense but after arriving in Cananda realized the GST was refundable anyway. My fault there for getting ripped off. The in house restaurants were very pricey but with the $25 a day food credit covered our breakfast expense. Also had free parking for the length of our stay but only until 2pm on our day of departure. The Adult pool, whirlpool and work out facilties were exceptional!
Top Local Tips for Toronto
TTC - all day pass The TTC has an all-day unlimited pass for couples for $9 (or was it $9.50??) It allows for unlimited travel on subway, trolley car, and bus for the two of you. It made for excellent value getting around ont eh weekend. During the weekdays the pass is good for only one person. Still good value.
Join the Delta club Membership is free. It allows you excellent benefits such as a special check-in desk and a 6:00 pm check-out.
St. Lawrence's Market Don't leave Toronto without visiting the farmer's market. You must trythe Canadian peameal bacon sandwiches in St. Lawrence's!
