Our seven year old was in heaven

We were impressed with the thoughfulness of the family programming. Despite all we did in Toronto, my seven-year-old son only talks about the water slide and playing BINGO. We also did the behind-the-scenes tour and participated in the Easter Egg hunt. Honestly, we could have kept busy without ever leaving the hotel.

Our only complaint was noisy neighbors the first night we were there. The were gone the second night and we slept peacefully.

Upbeat, cosmopolitan buzz

The Delta Chelsea is our favorite hotel in downtown Toronto. The rooms are comfortable, the gym and pool great (wonderful views), the staff friendly and attentive. Not a bit of pretension here. But it's the atmosphere that defines this hotel. There is always a bustle in the lobby and restaurants. There's a palpable, amiable buzz in the air. A cosmopolitan flair, old and young, married and unmarried, with children or without -- everyone happy to be in Toronto, looking forward to the theater, the shopping, the restaurants, the international street fairs, the sporting events, and the thousand other things this hip northern city has to offer. Not only can you not go wrong with this hotel, once you've stayed once you'll stay again and again.

Room was very comfortable

The room was very comfortable, the A/C was unobtrusive. The Health Club was quite excellent with a fine assortment of free-weights and machines. The pool was quite comfortable. The main restaurant had sufficient variety to satisfy most tastes. The tavern was quite comfortable and relaxing. Overall, the service was excellent. The location is excellent, convenient to mass transit and walking tours. There are at least two excellent restaurants immediately south of the property, and some more "interesting" businesses close by on the main drag. I would stay there again. The property was undergoing some mostly exterior renovations, but these had a minimal impact on my stay.

No complaints with the service - I had a problem with my room access, and from the time I reported it, until I got to my room, someone was there to reset the door lock. I also asked for a room change because I required internet access, and this was accommodated.

Convenient and Helpful

The hotel and its location is known by many in the area. The location is central to all activities. The staff are extremely polite and helpful. The lobby is impeccable and well maintained. The ambiance is extremely welcoming and quite relaxing. The rooms are very clean, quiet and accommodating. A definite choice while in Toronto.

Old and expensive

The lobby and the restaurants were up to date and very nice. The food was a bit expensive. I was very disappointed in the room that we were in. It was old and outdated. The walls were dingy and the bathroom had cracked tiles. I didn't even want my children to walk on the carpet barefoot. The balcony window was completely covered in bird poop. There was a man working near the revolving doors that was very helpful. He gave us a map and suggestions on where to eat and what to see. I would not stay at the Delta Chelsea again if the rooms are not updated.

Small room with few amenities

I was surprised having requested and been confirmed for a single room with a king-size bed that I ended up with a queen-sized bed in a very small room, no in-room bar and a small basic bathroom. When I travel for business I expect to have large bathtub to soak in at the end of a long day. I had never stayed at the Chelsea Inn before and was disappointed in the accommodations.

Great Hotel gave us crappy room

When we checked in they had given us a smokers room which I will not take. I had purposefully reserved a non smoking room. The room they gave us instead was the smallest I have ever stayed in. It was squeezed in between a stairwell and the outside. Our view was of the roof where all the birds and AC units were. The Elevators were pretty confusing too.

I stayed at The Delta Chelsea for a three day period. The registration staff were pleasant, and my check in and check out time were minimal.
The room was clean, the halls quiet. I was able to enjoy the pool each morning prior to leaving for a busy day. The children's pool was having renovations done, and the four children who used the adult pool were well supervised. My stay at the Delta Chelsea was enjoyable, and I will consider staying there again for respite from a busy, demanding life.

Great Hotel

Spent a January weekend at the Delta Chelsea with relatives from England. Hotel was wonderful, food excellent, staff friendly and helpful.

first time staying here, which was recommended by some friends. Drove around block twice trying to find entrance to main lobby which is hard to find. After pulling in the doorman just stood watching us unload our luggage and carry everything in. Didn't even up door for us!! Lobby is very nice but that is about it. Rooms are ok but are deterioting.
Wallpaper peeling from walls, cracked tiles, etc. Parking is outrageous for the price and very hard to manuever especially with an extended cab truck. Woke up at 3am to a loud party going on in next room (person yelling at the top of his voice on balcony) called security which they promptly showed up. But noise continued off an on after security left.
We won't be back!!

we stayed in december 2003 the hotel was clean comfortable and very freindly we ate in the hotel excellent value .Trips were arranged for us, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, an extremly enjoyable time

Loved the Delta Chelsea

Our stay at the Delta Chelsea in August 2003 was wonderful. The hotel has plenty of activities that suit a wide variety of people, including families, couples, and singles. While at the Delta Chelsea, my husband and I and some friends of ours had a fabulous time drinking martinis in the small lounge. We also had a fabulous time dancing in the larger lounge after drinking the martinis! The enclosed rooftop pool and whirlpool were also very nice. If you visit this establishment, you should also visit the restaurant around the corner, "Elephant & Castle," for great prices, atmosphere, and food.

Very popular place to stay

Travelling to Toronto i normally stay at the Delta Chelsea. It is large hotel and unless you are on the Delta Privilage Scheme check in can take some time because of the sheer numbers of people passing through.
That being said the staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms, athough clean and comfortable are looking a little tired.The Market Place eating area on the ground floor can get busy at breakfast time.
The Chelsea Express breakfast is good value and will set up for the day. Would i reccommend the place: the answer is yes. I will be back in Toronto in earlty 2004 and will be going back

We stayed 2 unfortunate nights there. I got the govt rate of 139 CDN a night..but 22 dollars anight to park!! It came to over 360 dollars [with taxes] for 2 nights.

The room was small, the TV was a puny 19 inch and did not work well [that is another story] . The bathtub was rotting. The balcony was okay but saw that it needed some repairs.

The underground parking was a nightmare to manoveur. Saw alot of paint on the turns!

I just thank God I got the govt rate...the usual rate is 179.

Next time it is the Bond Place Hotel, its small , cheap and I know what I am getting

Have no doubts about this hotel, it is one of the best. Couldn,t fault it at all. If you are going to Toronto and not sure where to stay- stay here you won,t be disappointed.

The Delta Chelsea was terrific

Stayed at the Delta Chelsea August 23-30, 2003. Upon check-in we discovered there was a problem with our reservation. We had booked two Premier Rooms and requested the rooms be side by side or across the hall. The rooms we were assigned were on opposite ends of the floor. We explained that this was not acceptable. Gertraud, the person who checked us in, was extremely helpful. She offered a free upgrade to Signature Club rooms for the remainder of the week if we would accept the rooms offered for the first night only.The rooms were clean and spacious. The view from the balcony was fabulous (26th. floor facing south). The continental breakfast was terrific and very convenient (served until 10:30 a.m.). The concierge was extremely helpful in arranging tours. The pool and hot tub on the 25th floor was adult only. Very clean and well maintained.The Delta Chelsea is very conveniently located in the downtown - just five minutes walk to the Eaton Centre. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants, shopping, theatre, entertainment, etc. The lobby was a beehive of activity, however, everything seemed to run smoothly and without delay. The Airport Shuttle Bus runs 24 hrs. between the hotel and the airport ($25.75 return fare).We enjoyed our week in Toronto and will definitely return to the Delta Chelsea.

8/03 If first impressions are worth anything the trip up from the parking garage to the Hotel was a bit scary. Once inside the Hotel the atmosphere was upscale and inviting. The desk clerks were helpful, pleasant and refreshing (after a 3 hour drive). The concierge staff was helpful but seemed like they'd rather have been doing something else.
The rooms were updated but found nicks,scapes and gouges on all of the furniture definetly not worth $205 canadian a night. The balcony view was nice but found the balcony with paint falling off and dirty. We had been reccomended the "tax free" promotional package which at the time made sense but after arriving in Cananda realized the GST was refundable anyway. My fault there for getting ripped off. The in house restaurants were very pricey but with the $25 a day food credit covered our breakfast expense. Also had free parking for the length of our stay but only until 2pm on our day of departure. The Adult pool, whirlpool and work out facilties were exceptional!

Top Local Tips for Toronto

TTC - all day pass The TTC has an all-day unlimited pass for couples for $9 (or was it $9.50??) It allows for unlimited travel on subway, trolley car, and bus for the two of you. It made for excellent value getting around ont eh weekend. During the weekdays the pass is good for only one person. Still good value.

Join the Delta club Membership is free. It allows you excellent benefits such as a special check-in desk and a 6:00 pm check-out.

St. Lawrence's Market Don't leave Toronto without visiting the farmer's market. You must trythe Canadian peameal bacon sandwiches in St. Lawrence's!
