We have stayed here before and knew what to expect. The location is ideal and is the main reason we booked again.
On both visits, there was no functioning thermostat control. The rooms were very warm and there was nothing we could do about it. The elevators are extremely slow. We used the stairs as much as possible. We booked through a broker. We were offered a $10 discount on our next stay after we filled in some information. Because the input boxes didn't allow me to input a Canadian postal code, I did not receive my discount.

This facility is VERY centrally located, easy to get to by all forms of transportation.
The hotel offers everything required to make a stay as pleasant as possible, including an evening stroll in the neigbourhood.
Ample in-house restaurant possibilities as well as an array of alternatives within less than a two (2) minute walk.

It's absolute BEST feature, is the curteous and friendly staff. This kind of attention is usually found only in very expensive hotels.

Our stay was exactly as expected. The hotel was adequate, well situated, close to the underground and easily accessable as one entered Toronto. It also had a parking garage under the facility which made it easy to come and go. I will stay at this Days Hotel and Conference Center the next time I visit Toronto.

you get what you pay for

the rooms are small but it was cheap to stay here so you cant really complain. it was clean, apart from the windows! good central location. my main complaint was the bed was too soft and the pillows too hard!!

Great coffee shop and facilities

from Buster2006
I thought the Days Inn was perfectly fine accommodation and the facilities were good. It has an excellent coffee shop, swimming pool and comfortable rooms for the price. It is situated near to the attractions and is a good central place to stay.

Great Value for Location

from NY11373
I was hesitant about staying at Days Inn as I had a bad experience before, but after reading the viewers comments, I decided to give it a try. The price was less then 100.00 CDN with full breakfast. The location is excellent, near subway, and Yonge St. The room was bigger then expected. I always book 2 beds if the price is the same for 1 bed as the rooms tend to be bigger. The room was clean and well stocked with amenities. I would recommend to park in the lot on Wood Street across from the rear of the hotel. They charge $15.00 a day. The hotel charges $18.00, but parking is limited, so you could leave and come back and their are no spaces left. Another minus is where to park when checking in. I would recommend this hotel if you are on a budget and want to stay downtown. It's not the Hyatt, but it is functional.

Dirty Windows

Good location / price.
Dingy corridorrs , but the worst was the the " view " from my window....they were so dirty that I could not see out of them.

Good hotel

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in 2002. Was undergoing renovations. Hotel is centrally located and within walking/subway distance of most attractions. The street location is your typical mid-end downtown, it's not skid row but it's not upscale either. If convenience is your priority and you're not a stranger to city living you'll have no problems. Hotel itself was fine. The check in staff were good if not a bit cold. The first room we were given overlooked Carlton Street (?) and was extremely noisy. Called reception to be moved and within 5 mins moved to another room at the back and on an upper floor. It was 11.30pm and I thought this matter was dealt with very efficiently. Room itself was comfortable and bright if a little small. It's true the TV reception is'nt great but that's no big deal. Lobby cafe not much to write home about..better checking out some of the neighbourhood coffee shops for breakfast. At check out the manager was at hand interviewing customers to find out their views on the hotel. This impressed me and shows they care about their customer. Overall I'd recommend this hotel for value, comfort, and location...you can't really get better..I will return.

Great Value for the Price!

from teffers
My recent visit to Toronto was my first to the city, and so my choice of Hotel was done over the 'net.
Thus, I chose the Days Inn for its location, and price.
Finding the hotel after arrival was very easy, the subway stop is only a hundred yards from the front door.
The location of the hotel was very suitable for access to public transport (both subway, and streetcar), and for reaching places on foot. Toronto's `main` street , Yonge Street is only a minute away.
While I can understand one or two of the minor quibbles about the hotel (Yes - occasionally there was a short wait for a lift, and the corridirs were perhaps a little gloomy) for the price, I could not fault it.
My room was perfectly adiquate in terms of size (and lets face it, you only sleep there - if you need a large suite, book one, and pay the price for it!).
The room was kept clean and tidy - though the staff were very keen, as I got a knock on the door at 8.30 one morning, and I'm certainly not up-and-about at that time of day on my holidays!
The only MINOR complaint I would have is that I arrived in the middle of a cold spell, and the room was kept VERY warm indeed. As I couldn't find a thermostat in the room, I ended up running the air-conditioning, and keeping the window open at night.
On the whole, however, as a budget priced Hotel, I would happily recommend the Days Inn to anyone.

Good value, with a few inconveniences....

from A TripAdvisor Member
First off, I must say that Toronto is, quite simply, my favorite city in the world and I try to get there at least twice a year.

The Days Inn Downtown has many plusses: incredible value (under $100 Canadian per night is unbelievable for a downtown hotel), fantastic convenience to the subway, friendly front desk and gift shop employees, and clean rooms.

However, my last few visits have revealed a few minuses: the in-room TVs are abominable (not that I spend a lot of time in the room watching TV, but you can't watch it for more than 2 minutes without it abruptly changing to static), the elevator situation is incredibly frustrating (only 2 of the 4 seem to be working at a time, and waits of up to 10 minutes are not uncommon), the service at the Beer Cellar leaves a lot to be desired (the woman bartender working there one evening was so out to lunch that my wife and I left after one drink, and the drink prices are sky-high as well), and the hotel noise can be annoying at times (I always seem to stay here at the same time as a convention of high-school cheerleaders). The hotel is also directly across the street from a high-rise apartment building, and some of the folks living there don't always close their curtains, if you catch my drift.

Overall, if you're looking for an inexpensive, decent, clean hotel downtown, there aren't a whole lot of better options than the Days Inn.

Conference Center

from A TripAdvisor Member
Dark, dingy hallways led to an equally dingy, closet-sized room. The only way we could open our suitcases was to place them on the bed. Bedding was threadbare, no drinking glasses were provided even after a specific request for them was made. Windows were filthy. Pictures of this hotel provided on the Hotels website were deceptive to say the least. Overpriced at any price!

Highly recommended

I really have nothing negative to say about this hotel, I found it to be excellent value for money. The rooms were clean and comfortable and I can confidently say that the review about there being bed bugs, which had me very concerned, is complete nonsense. The staff were friendly and very helpful, and the hotel is located within walking distance of the Eaton Centre and the subway, as well as many great cafes and restaurants. The hotel restaurant was wonderful too; the service was prompt, the food was great, and the prices were very reasonable. I am very much looking forward to returning to this hotel, hopefully in the near future.

Hideous decor

from jan2004
We stayed two nights at the Strathcona but had to go to the Days Inn as they were booked up for the third night. The staff was friendly and fast, efficient check in at the hotel but the room was small with a terrible decor. The wallpaper was a bright yellow with a strange diamond pattern and the bedding was old and had a yellow rainbow striped pattern. We'd just returned from the Caribbean and would have found this room outdated there. Although it was generally clean, we found hair in the bathroom sink and both comforters and blanket were covered with hair. The pool and fitness centre were closed for maintenance but looked quite good from what I could see. We wouldn't stay there again even though the pool is tempting and the rate was under $100 canadian. The Stratchcona was much better.

Top Local Tips for Toronto

Good food Check out Hoops Bar & Grill at Younge/Carlton for good food, atmosphere and beer. Best place I've found so far.

Save money on the subway Staying for a day or two? get a daily or weekly subway pass to save money and time.

TTC Day Pass @ $8.50 is a steal. You can get on and off a superb transit system and experience several forms of transportation ie. streetcars, subway, buses, that will take you anywhere in the city.
