Top Local Tips for Toronto
Getting to the Alexandria from Lester B Pearson Airport There is a regular shuttle bus to take you from the airport to the downtown area. The shuttle bus is WAY cheaper than getting a cab all the way to the Alexandria. The shuttle bus makes several stops at various hotels. Take it to the Sheraton Central Hotel on Queen Street West then get a cab from there along Queen street to the Alexandria. There are cabs outside the Sheraton all day long so you won't have to wait. Total price of shuttle and taxi will be around 24 Candian dollars whereas a taxi from the airport to the Alexandria will cost over 50 canadian dollars.
Toronto Zoo The price $20/adult +$8.00/car was very reasonable, and we had a good day over all. However, I must say that I was quite disappointed in two areas. First, the supplied map and on-site signage was confusing and not very helpful. Much is to be learned in this area from Disney World. Second, many of the exhibits had only one representative animal...and sevearl others were vacant completely for various reasons. We chose not to pay $7.00/pp extra for the zoomobile...and were glad. While signage indicated "trains" every 10 minutes, they were definitely few and far between...and stopped altogehter during a rain storm...just when people might have wanted them most.
