We stayed one night, July 17, after catching the last ferry from Manitoulin. It was after midnight when we arrived and the door was unlocked and awaiting our arrival. The room and bathroom were extra clean and well appointed. Towels were thick and fluffy. We really only used the room to sleep and get a head start on our 500 mile return trip to Dayton, OH. Would highly recommend this motel and its manager.

Poor service, dirty sheets on bed and thin walls.
Excellent owner & motel

We have stayed at the Cedar Vista multiple times a year, over the last 11 years. The owner is very accommodating and friendly, rooms are plain but very clean and well kept. Hotel is just minutes from the ferry and makes a nice resting stop before continuing to Manitoulin. Would highly recommend this motel.
Nice Place!

We had booked two rooms, and were very pleased. They were clean, inside & out, the queen be was comfortable. (would have liked two) The manager was very helpful when asked questions. They were affordable, much less than other motels in Tobermory. We booked from the net and everything was ready when we arrived. We will definitely book there again.

My friend and I stayed at the Cedar Vista Motel in July of 2006 and found it excellent in all respects. The owner was friendly and ready to do whatever would ensure that we had a good stay. The rooms were clean and well equipped and quiet. I would stay here anytime I came to Tobermory.
Very clean, Very friendly!

We had a wonderful weekend stay at this hotel. The hotel has a reputation in Tobermory for being very clean, as we saw for ourselves. The owner/operator was very friendly and helpful over the phone before we arrived and throughout our stay there. He worked very hard to ensure the rooms were clean and comfortable. Their restaraunt is great too! We will definitely stay there next time also!

I am a resident of Toronto. We had our friends visiting us from Belgium (a reputed doctor), their first trip to Canada. Since I have had an excellent time in Tobermory in my previous trips there, I highly recommended a weekend visit to Tobermory. One week before our visit, after not finding any vacancy in our regular hotels, my sister had called the "Cedar Vista Motel". We were looking for 3 rooms for 16th July 2005, as we were 3 families visiting Tobermory. There were only 2 rooms available, so she made a booking for 2 rooms. We had decided that one family would return back to Toronto in the night, whereas the other 2 families will stay in Cedar Vista. When we arrived in Tobermory on Saturday, the 16th of July 2005 and visited the motel to check-in, the man behind the check-in counter was visibly "disturbed" (his eyes were glassy and he was shaking even before we started talking). The first thing he informed us was that he had already cancelled one of the two rooms! When we asked him that why he did that, he started shouting and using foul language and asked us to get out, said he will cancel the one room that was already booked. He assumed that all of us were going to stay in 1 room!! He started using bad language in front of kids and asked us to get out. This was after we had made a booking with VISA for 2 rooms. My friends from Belgium were very disappointed and we were all embarrassed to witness this kind of behavior. Of course, we left the premises immediately and since we were all so upset, we decided to cut short the visit and return towards Toronto. Of course, we called up VISA and reported the incident and my friends would publish this incident in European travel journals.
It was unfortunate that motels like this are allowed to operate and their proprietors are allowed to embarrass Canadians and bring down the reputation of an otherwise beautiful place like Tobermory. Just wanted to report this to the Tobermory Chamber and tourism journals.
