The only truth in advertising is that the rooms are relatively big and there is free internet access (which isn't a big deal in today's world). For price of more then $130 you will get quality of $40-$50 motel and you feel that the owner is doing you a big favor by taking your money. For satellite TV, you will have a quite basic package of 12 of the channels and the swimming pool will open starting from noon until probably 7 or 8 pm, which makes it completely useless. You will fill how everything in this place starting from doors are cheap and up to furniture. I don't even understand how dear people even clime more then a $100 for this place. Much better value for your money if you in any B&B around!

Would Not Stay Any Place Else

I have spent about eight weeks on business there and would not stay any other place, even for pleasure stays. I always book at the Guest House Inn when I am staying in the area. Even others in the office stayed there on my recommendation. I often had to sleep during the days due to being on shifts and I have never had problems sleeping.

The price may be higher than other places, but you do get what you pay for. The rooms are very spacious, well kept, clean and quiet. The lobby is very welcoming and the staff very hospitable.

I have stayed when other guests were a little too noisy and Mark was very diplomatic when dealing with these issues. You could not ask for nicer people to run an establishment where sleeping can be an import part of how you make decisions the next day, especially in the industry I work in.

Well done and thanks for being in business.

We love Southampton and go there to "get away from it all" when we can. The Guest House Inn was new to us and we decided to give it a try. We loved the clean spacious room with fireplace (the sheets are even soft!!) and enjoyed the pool and sauna. The owners are lovely, very friendly, and accomodating. For us, peace and quiet are essentials. I read with interest the negative reviews by team parents, and to you I say this. We pay good money for our rooms too and I can't count the number of hotel stays we have had that were ruined because of rude and ignorant people who feel they have the right to be as loud and obnoxious as they want until all hours with no regard for other guests. Kudos to you, Colleen and Mark, for taking a stand to maintain the integrity of your Guest House. You've won us over and we will highly recommend your "house" as the place to stay in Southampton. Thank you for your hospitality.

We stayed here for a local area Silver stick and enjoyed our accomodations. This is a very clean relaxing atmosphere. I am sure our boys were a little noisey, however as parents we reminded them as necassary that we are guest here. We found the hotel staff to be very friendly, and were very nice to all of us. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for nice place to relax. Thanks!!

Teams at the Guest House Inn

Last weekend my sons hockey team stayed at this hotel. The hotel itself is very nice and very clean. Price wise, it is very pricey especially factoring in that we all had to pay an extra $10.00 per night to bring our kids. This is the first hotel where as a team, we received no discount for renting 16 rooms. But I see why now, it isn't geared to sport teams, or kids for that matter. Each room gets one key. That key gets you into your room, into the pool, and back in from outside after 10 pm. I spent the majority of my time passing the key around between our family members. Just so everyone is aware..a contract must be signed and it will be followed to a tee. Most hotels have rules. Many are the same, some are different. 30 day cancellation??? most hotels are 24 hours. And whether you are quiet or not...you must be in your own room by 10:30pm. We were sitting out in the lobby watching the world series baseball game, conversation was minimal, noise was minimal, no one complained about noise but just were sent to our rooms like little kids anyways. I think that the Guest House Inn should not rent to teams anymore. When grown adults are curfewed and no longer allowed to socialize with one and other...you are running a boot camp, not a hotel. Had any complaint been made, it would have needed to be addressed, I understand that. The owner got upset, called a parent on our team names that I won't repeat and cursed at us. This was at 11:30 pm for watching TV. I could go on and on but I won't...I will never be back, nor will the majority of the families on our team.

We were passing through from Manitoulin Island on our way home. We were sent there by another motel because they were filled. We were greeted by one of the owners and promptly checked in and entered new large beautifully furnished rooms. The salt water pool was a pleasure to swim in. The continental breakfast had a good selection of items. The Guest House Inn is owner operated and because of that there is a sence of pride felt through out the Inn. I am pleased that the other motel was filled, I will definately stay again on my next trip to the area.

Even though I have not personally stayed at the motel yet---can not wait. I had the unfortunate luck of meeting up with the Lacrosse team the owner mentioned while I was trying to eat at a local restaurant. They were definitely loud, ignorant and very drunk- kids were loud and they were proud of their behaviour. I have only heard good things about this place- good luck.

Disprespectful Service by Owners

The Guest House Inn was new, had lovely rooms with simple luxuries. Unfortunately, this is not suitable for children. Our family felt scrutinized and uncomfortable during our stay. The owners were more focused on appearances than actual quality of service. It was very over-priced for a family and we truly will never return and definitely tell people about this uncomfortable "house"!

I actually had stopped there for directions on my first night in Canada. The owners were very helpful & friendly & even called my destination for extra help. My vacation was abrubtly cut short & I stayed there for a night. Wonderful, friendly people. Beautiful area & rooms. I would definitely stay there again. I Highly recommend.

Top Local Tips for Southampton

Great place to slow down From Sarnia to Tobermory along the shores of Lake Huron, sunsets are events that draw people together. Sunsets are varied and beautiful. The western view from Southampton includes Chantry Island with its Imperial Lighthouse. If you go, don't miss sunset and stick around to enjoy dusk. Return to the fine beach in the daytime, too, to see how well you do in the water which is chilling for those of us who come from the south. Not a lot of shops, but what's there is very nice and often shows labels you won't find at home. Partial daytrips go to waterfalls and historical sites (see the accompanying photos). The Bruce-Grey region is pretty laid back; but if you need to party, nearby Sauble Beach and Port Elgin can suit your needs.

Great deal this hotel was the best deal on our trip and the nicest room
