Very Nice Hotel

My Special Olympics Group Stayed at This Hotel Back In 2000 And I have to Say Rooms Are Very Nice. I Loved Walking to the Parliment Buildings witch were not too far away and Seeing the Canal and Byward Market. The Room was very Quiet. Yes I will be back Maybe in Future and Stay at this Hotel Again. Very Snug Beds. Good Maid Service. I hope you will enjoy this hotel. Had a Great Time.

Very good stay at the Marriott, lots of fun

I stayed at this hotel for one night earlier this month.
The hotel is in a very good location for tourists, right beside the itallian restaurant "Carmellos", close to good night life, and the Market.
The pool was clean and a fair size. The hotel also has mini put and there is a Starbucks inside it which I never got to use as we were there for a soccer tournament so we weren't inside too much.
95% of the staff were extremely friendly, especially the bell boys who help you with your luggage - they were funny and nice.
I would stay here again!

Good, solid lodging. Didn't spend a lot of time there, so we were not able to take advantage of ther hotel's amenities. The hotel does have some of the fastest elevators I've ever witnessed. Nothing too flashy but very serviceable.

Nice Hotel in Good Location

Just spent a night here and hosted a business meeting at this hotel. The sleeping room was spacious, very clean, with nice furnishings. The bed has a foam mattress, so you have to like soft beds (I do). The hotel is in a good location, about a 10 minute walk from Parliament and 15 from the museums and market area.
The lobby bar/restaurant was good. The hotel also has a revolving restaurant on the roof, but I did not eat there (though it also has a nice bar). There is also a Starbucks in the lobby.
The staff was great. Service was very attentive.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Great restaurant, but cheap uncomfortable bed

I had reservations for five days at the Ottawa Marriott in May, along with several business colleagues. One painful first night sleeping on the cheap foam(!) mattress made me get up at 6 am to get online to book a room at the Sheraton for the sweet sleeper bed. I'm easy to please and travel weekly for business, so it takes a lot for me to pack up all my luggage and check out of a hotel early like that, especially since the rest of my team was staying to get their Marriott Rewards points and it was a real hassle to go stay in a different hotel from everyone else. On the positive side, the restaurant in the lobby, Cafe Toulouse, has incredible food and is open late. After checking in to my room late in the evening, I found the cafe open at 10:15 pm and I enjoyed potato & bacon bisque, an excellent caeser salad, and trout almondine with asparagus and lentils. The rest of the menu was equally impressive and ridiculously inexpensive. My room was clean and spacious and the staff was so helpful and friendly that I almost felt bad about cancelling the rest of my stay. The Marriott is located downtown near major attractions. Wired high speed internet access is available in the rooms for C$12.95 per day. There was no minibar in my room, but the usual coffee maker, ironing board, etc. Nice usable desk in the room. Parking in the underground garage is C$15 per day with in / out priveleges.

A Very Pleasant Stay

I was in Ottawa on a brief business trip and found the Marriott superbly located, nicely decorated & spotlessly clean. All the staff are friendly and helpful and the gym & pool are great. On a return visit with the family, both the kids & dog were welcomed and given special attention.

For a hotel of this calibre, the rates are very good, and the revolving restaurant on the roof is a pleasant treat. Indoor parking at the hotel costs a FORTUNE (be forewarned!!!) and the prices at the main floor cafe are astronomical (although I must admit the food quality is good).

All in all, a great place to stay!

We stayed at the Marriott on Kent for our anniversary last year and chose the "Romance Package". For a little over the price of their regular king size room, you get a lovely corner suite and breakfast.

The suite is beautiful and very large; we had an excellent view of the city and the Rideau that was well worth the stay alone. Soundproofing was also excellent, which is why we needed a hotel in the first place- we live in a thin-walled, old apartment and needed to escape the noise!

The breakfast was a buffet and satisfying- the only downside I can give was that the wine bottle holds no more than 2 glasses of wine, and the gift package is only a few sample toiletries. Still, a nice touch.

I would highly recommend this hotel, its an excellent value for the price in comparison to other hotels in the city.

We stayed here for one night and found it simply average. We were originally given a room on a floor filled with young teens on some sort of organized trip. The yelling and door slamming was too much, so we asked to be moved. The hotel was quite full, but we were able to get a room on the floor reserved for airline flight crews. It was across from the ice machine, but I'd rather have a rumbly ice machine than a floor full of pre-pubescent balls of energy.

The room was old and tired looking, but large. I enjoy having a bath at night and was disappointed to find the tub in the room was shallow and bland, just a standard crappy hotel tub.

Overall, this was an average hotel. Had we not been attending a function at the hotel, we would not have selected this for our stay.

Average, average, average.

The only reason why I stayed here was becuase I wanted to try something different and earn some Aeroplan miles. I checked out the reviews here at Trip Advisor and thought that this hotel was, at the very least, above avearge. Not so.

In hindsight, I should have stayed at the ARC hotel (see my review: "It's the little things...").

The one thing about the Ottawa Marriot worth noting: you get to sleep with 4 great pillows.

Everything you would want or expect from a major corporate chain. Efficient staff, comfortable bed, good food both with room service and at the breakfast buffet - all at a very good price. The corner rooms are worth a few dollars more. Recommended.

Top Local Tips for Ottawa

Airport to downtown options OC Transpo (local transit) will take you from the airport to downtown in 20 minutes for $3.00!! Alternatively, you could take the airport shuttle for $21.00 return fare which also takes about 20 minutes. And, as always, taxis are available but why take a cab when you can travel comfortably like a native for way less?
