My husband and I recently returned from a trip to Canada, where we were visiting family. As a late wedding present, we were given a weekend at this hotel and it is unlike any place I have ever been. For my entire stay I felt like a movie star, pampered and living a dream. Many many thanks.

Had an opportunity to visit this hotel with my boyfriend last month. We love to travel and especially like to experience fine hotels. This one is the best. From the moment we arrived, we knew that it was special. The staff are the friendliest people and can't do enough for you. I loved the shuttle that is available. I loved the wine and cheese in the afternoon and the best part of all are the bedrooms. Pure luxury and comfort. Definitely will return.

My wife and I stayed at Harbour House last October and were so surprised by the unbelievable stay we had! The service was amongst the best we had ever received, the food was great and the rooms were amazing! King sized feather topped beds with 350 count linens, flat screens with DVD player, MP3 Alarm clocks, jacuzzi tubs, glass walled showers, great view of the water, just fantastic!!! We will go back for sure and if you want the best on your trip to Niagara on the Lake, this would be the place.

Enjoyed it but had one complaint

My husband had surprised me with a stay at the Harbour House hotel for our 20th anniversary in August. I loved the atmosphere of the hotel, the wine and cheese in the afternoon and the wonderful breakfast. The room was cozy and inviting and the staff friendly. Here's the problem we had - my sister had arranged with the hotel to surprise us with sparkling wine and truffles. It was to be in the room when we checked in and was not. I was talking to my sister that night and she asked if we had receive the present. We had to call down to the front desk to see if our anniversary surprise was there and eventually it was sent up to the room. I wonder if it would have been forgotten if we had not contacted the front desk. Also, my sister contacted the hotel manager after and he replied that he would have to look into the matter and she never heard back from him.
I would go back to Harbour house but was unhappy about the situation with our anniversary surprise.

Cozy Harbour House

Happening to stumble across the reviews here on Trip Advisory about the Harbour House, we decided to spend one night here on our way up to Toronto. What a GREAT, cozy, romantic place to stay! The service was excellent (not intrusive but there if you needed them!), the breakfast and cookies wonderful, location excellent, and rooms were what you'd expect in a 5 star hotel! Well worth even just one night here (althought we really didn't want to leave!) - we're going back next year! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Fantastic! Everything was first class. Near the Pellar Estate Wine tour. Have bicycles to rent on premises. After a lovely brunch were able to ride our bikes along the beautiful Niagara River. The hotel staff was very nice, the rooms clean and bright. The bed was incredibly comfortable with a warm,cozy fireplace right in the room. Will be back again as soon as possible!

All I have to say is that this hotel and its staff were absolutely incredible. They went above and beyond my expectations and set up everything as asked for my return with my fiance. For the price, quality and service you cannot go wrong.

Quiet Elegant Getaway

We have stayed at many large and small Inns and B&Bs at Niagara, and this one goes to the top of the list. Queietly elegent with staff that are attentive yet not overbearing. Nice touches included a nightly wine tasting by different local wineries, hot freshbaked cookies in our room each night, gorgeous bath with Jacuzzi, a library of CD and DVDs that rivals my own, full time driver to drive you around town, flat screen TV/CD in the room, and a beautiful facility. This was superb.
Be sure to rent bikes and ride to Niagara Falls. The nearby Charles Inn restaurant is affiliated with the Hotel, and is a classy gourmet place housed in a hundred year old Inn that looks like it is out of Gone With The Wind.

Great Getaway at the HH

We travel as much as possible & we've learned that it is not always easy to judge a hotel by it's fancy website & spectacular photography. Have you ever wondered why your room is half the size as the one shown and why you are paying the premium price?

Well, the HH offers both, a fabulous & accurate website and better yet, the HH offers a cozy inn with a friendly staff, very comfortable & simply elegant accomodations (we had a "Deluxe" Room #312) overlooking the Niagara river & harbor, king size bed, down comforters & pillows (you may be out of luck if you like wafer-thin pillows!), a fireplace that even in the summertime has a lot of charm to offer.

At breakfast there were fresh breads, fruit salads, cereals, a hot casserole (usually egg based), juices, & of course staff to assist you. The afternoon wine tastings at the HH are a must...you get to sample some local wines while making new friends.

HH is conveniently located to the wineries and to the Main Street restaurants and boutiques...we walked everywhere although they (HH) will be sure to shuttle you if preferred or for the more romantic you can get picked by a horse & carriage right at hotel. We also liked the garage parking.

Our best dinner was at the Epicurean, best fish & chips at the Angel Inn, best winery meal at the Pellar, and the best entertainment was the Whirlpool Jet Tours located right behind the HH.

The only negative was that we couldn't stay longer...but this just means we will have to come back.

To anyone going, we hope your experience is as positive as ours.

What a Wonderful Place to Stay!

My husband and I travel a fair amount and regularly stay in very nice hotels. I now need to add The Harbour House to that list. This small boutique hotel is simply lovely! The feeling of being "at home" overwhelms you as soon as you walk in to the intimate and friendly entrance area with it's fireplace and comfy furniture. The staff is very acommodating and will go out of their way to meet your every request. But the very best part about staying here (in addition to the yummy breakfast which was included and the wine and cheese tasting which was very nice indeed), the best part of all, was our room. It was just beautiful. Decorated with an eye for subtlety and comfort and with possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! The linens and the Duvet were snowy white and simply "begged" to be sat upon. The room had a CD with great jazz to play to our heart's content . It was romantic and a perfect get away for both of us. Thank you Harbour House. We loved every minute and we'll certainly be back again soon!

Honeymoon to remember

We decided to visit Niagara-on-the-Lake for our honeymoon and were sent to the Harbour House on a friend's recommendation. I am still in awe over what an incredible place it is. The rooms are unbelievable - there is a personalized notepad for you when you walk in the door, (which was very exciting for me because it was the first time that I saw my new name in writing!) so that you feel like you're at home. I only wish our home was like this! Featherbeds, jacuzzis, a movie library, big couches, homemade cookies and wine tastings - it doesn't get much better. The staff was also always willing to help - they even made reservations for our dinners and drove us to the restaurant. Thanks Harbour House for a very special, very memorable honeymoon.

What an amazing place to stay

My wife and I went to Niagara on the Lake for the weekend about two months ago. While there we met an incredibly charming young man who worked for one of the wineries. Aside from having unbelievable knowledge of wines, he also seemed to know the town quite well. So when he told us that the Harbour House was the best hotel around, we took his advise. I'm so glad we did because we couldn't have been happier! We ended up staying in Niagara for an extra 3 days because we didn't want to leave this amazing hotel! Thanks for a flawless stay Harbour House, we will be back!

wowed , wowed and more wowed

Went down to the Harbour House for a weekend getaway and from the time we entered we were wowed by the interior of this hotel with the leather couch in front of a roaring fireplace , and the friendliness of the staff was spectactular in meeting our needs.wowed again at the view from our room and the kingsize down featherbed and duvet, the jacuzzi complet with a holder for your book and wine while you play with your floating rubber duckie.The velour robes to cuddle up in while we sipped our complimentary wine (our 25th anniversay) in front of a fireplace listening to cd's that are complimentary putting us in the mood to snuggle into our comfy bed.Satin hangers and plush towels add to the felling of luxury.Dvd's were also complimentary. Wowed again. At breafast we were once again wowed by the extent the staff goes to for a complimentary breakfast and superb service.Fresh fruit homemade granola. baked goods cold meats, yougart, cereal and so much more.At night you get homemade cookies and during the day you can even smell them cooking.Found out dogs were welcome and they get their own bed and toy along with their own bowlsEven get a poop bag.Wowed again.We felt so relaxed and pampered we stayed an extra day.I travel a lot but never have i been so impressed. Its a oasis in the middle of a beatiful town and I recommend everyone give it a try and count your wows.

Charles Inn The best restaurant in Niagara (if you are looking for fine dining)

Whirlpool Jet Boat ride Whirlpool jet boat tours are based very close to Harbour House Hotel (just beyond the car park). You can get a "wet" experience in one of their open boats or stay dry in the covered version. We opted to get soaked - and they delivered! It is a bit of a thrill going into and through the rapids with waves crashing into you from all sides - be prepared not to breathe when you would like to - or you will get a mouth/nose full of Niagara! A warm jumper, jacket, lifebelt and footwear are provided. I'd recommend you arrive in t-shirt and shorts as none of the above protect you from getting soaked! You will need to have a towel and change of clothing when you get back. The return is at speed along the river when your wet so it can also get cold. Don't take a camera unless you use it for diving trips! The trip is an exhilarating experience but not for the feint-hearted!

Restaurant times during low season Hello:Please be advised that during low or slow season in NOTL, the restaurants close early(around 10PM) including McDonalds on Highway 55. We found that Stone Grill restaurant on Highway 55 across Tim Horton's wouldn't accomodate us when we walked in around 10 minutes to 10 PM. The manager claimed that their kitchen was closed and everything was put away so they couldn't make us dinner even though there were still patrons at the restaurant. (totally ridiculous!) The Tim Horton's though, is open 24/7.
