We have stayed at several places in Niagara Falls. We were excited to stay at a newer hotel, however it quite was disappointing. It was our anniversary and decided to splurge a bit with a jacuzzi room, however it emitted all sorts of mold and debris, the a/c unit buzzed on and off all night and the room was quite warm. Although a non-smoking room we smelled smoke through the vents and the shower gives new meaning to standing room only! We were offered a 10% discount.

We stayed over there for one night, got a so called "Dream Package" containing a fallsview room (top floor) with spa. The hotel was execellent, great rooms, very clean and neat. Their workforce was very helpful and nice. Nothing to complain at all!

Great Hotel, Great Views

from Popey57
We stayed here on the 23rd Feb for two nights. It was well off season and as a result, we got a 'real' bargain on a falls view room.

The room was superb and definetly worth more than we were coughing up for it. The view was as described, and even better at night.

The hotel is equipped with a good if small gym area and loevly pool. You are also within walking distance of losing your shirt at the new casino.

One evening, we chose to dine in the hotel restaurant. Due to the time of year, there were few guests at the hotel and even fewer in the restaurant. Only us and two other guests. It didn't matter though, the staff were excellent and the food was even better. We both chose fish dishes and they were cooked to perfection.

In the foyer, they have a nice little bar and coffee shop which is nice to relax in at the end of the day, but may be a bit busy in high season.

The hotel is really modern and the foyer has a big stone cabin feel which has been done well.

All in all, an excellent stay and one that I would re-visit!!!

very clean and very, very comfortable!!

This hotel is great!! Cleanliness in a hotel is very important to me and I thought this hotel was very clean. The dreambeds are soooo comfortable, even though we were sharing the rooms with others...I still slept better here then I ever did at any other hotels. Rooms were soundproof, I did not here any noise at all, even though we had a 2yr old and 5 yr old in the room next to us!! The only negative is...that they should include a buffet breakfast included in the price like the Embassy suites does! But you definately get more than you pay for at this hotel in the form of comfortability. I would definately go back here!!!

This hotel has nice, big rooms. It's quiet, and I would certainly stay again. The only downfall, is the view of the falls - there really isn't one because the hotel is a little ways from them. However, the walk to the new Casino is about 5-10 minutes.

My only complaint was they ran out of towels at the pool and we had to call to get more brought down which took some time.

Otherwise, this place was great.

Great Place

We stayed at the Doubletree on 2/18 - 2/20. The rooms are very nice with great beds. Kids will love the pool. We bought the breakfast package, which was worth it, because we had 2 adults and two kids. Breakfast includes made to order omelets. The staff is very nice.

This is a great choice!

I have stayed here three times, and all have been pleasant. The service is excellent...everyone is very attentive. The rooms are clean. There is a large pool area which is great for families (note: the pool is often crowded with families...if that ain't your thing, then avoid the pool). Also, the breakfast package is a good deal...the breakfast buffet is 100 times better than that at the Embassy Suites.

I wholeheartedly recommend the Doubletree, especially over the Embassy Suites.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. There are nicer hotels in the area for less than what we paid ($200 American). Parking was tight and it was $9 per day. Hotwire has this hotel listed as a 4 1/2 star-don't believe them. The rooms were clean and that was a plus. The pool was small and crowded and this is Feb. Imagine the summer! Anyway do yourself a favor-stay away from this hotel if you're looking for 4+ stars.

Love it

We go up to Niagara all the time to hit the new Fallsview casino. We had stayed at the doubletree during the summer because of the great price (us$47/night with entertainment card discount). We decided to try it again in January and got the discounted rate for two rooms (us$52/ night) For this price, the value is easily a 5 star rating. The hotel is nearly brand new, I believe completed in the spring of 2004. The one thing we love is how soft the beds are. the pillows themselves are so soft its unbelievable. The rooms are very plain with beige colors. Bathroom is standard. they give you chocolate chip cookies when checking in. havn't tried the spa yet in 2 trips there, but it looked small. The casino is about 5 blocks and i wouldn't walk it in the winter. The hotel charges CA$9.00/night for parking but we tell them were parking our car at the casino. We do park it at the casino, but when we come back at night we park in the hotel lot. We havnt had trouble yet with hotel staff because we simply get up and then valet over at the casino again. The breakfast is way way overpriced (i think it was 17.95). there are a couple of places much better and cheaper about a 5 minute drive on stanley ave away from the city. If your looking for a view of the falls, it will probably be obstructed by the hotels closer to the falls. This hotel is set back a little too far to have that great view, but still has the best value for your money.

Beautiful new hotel with all the amenities any traveler would want. Staff very friendly and efficent. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed every one. If we ever go back we'd just book directly into this facility. Looked at many in town and found this the best.

A Pleasant Experience

from littlemusic
My husband and I stayed in this hotel after a wonderful dinner in Niagara-on-the-Lake. We only stayed for one night, but were delighted with the experience on the whole. We didn't go for any extras like views (we got there late at night-- what is there to see?), we just wanted a comfortable, clean room, a good night's sleep, and no hassles. That is exactly what we got! The reception staff were friendly and easygoing, and they took a few minutes to call us to find out if the room was satisfactory after we went up, which was a nice touch. The beds were comfortable, and the decor was very tasteful. The rooms were extremely clean, which I was very happy about.

The one and only complaint that I had was that someone in the neighbouring room to ours was smoking in the bathroom and the smoke crept through the ventilation system into our bathroom. I am not sure if this is the hotel's fault though... I think someone just may have "lit up" on a non-smoking floor, which is quite inconsiderate. But what can you do?

This hotel offers superior accommodations for very reasonable prices. It is on par with the larger casino hotels like the Sheraton or the Hilton down the road, for a fraction of the price that they were asking. Since we don't gamble, the choice was clear. I would recommend this place without hesitation.

Top Local Tips for Niagara Falls

Eating breakfast We went to the Applebee's near the Fallsview Casino, just down the street from the Doubletree, and it was pretty reasonable, in comparison to neighbouring restaurants. Also, there is a restaurant across the street from Applebee's that advertises cheaper breakfast....DO NOT go to this place, it made my friend sick to his stomach, literally. We all felt horrible after eating here...the food was terrible.

Careful in the Winter If you are going to check on the Falls on the Canadian side in the winter, make sure you bring a waterproof coat and shoes with good tread on the bottom. You can walk down to the path next to the Falls, but it can be very slippery!

Coupons In case you forget a coupon for a Museum, tell the ticket vendor. They might just add you on to one they already had.
