Nice Location, older hotel.

We visited Niagara Falls, Ontario on July 22nd and 23rd. This hotel has a great location on Clifton Hill and is within walking distance to most of the Niagara Falls attractions. The walk from the falls area up Clifton Hill is a little strenuous, all uphill and extremely crowded. We highly recommend the People Mover that is offered to go between all of the attractions. You still have to walk down to the falls area to catch the ride, but it takes you to all of the major falls attactions. The cost was only $5.50 per adult (Canadian) and was well worth the money at the end of the day.

We requested a balcony room which we received and found to be very nice. My 52 year old mother watched us play Dinosaur Mini Golf from the balcony. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable and even had real fitted sheets.

The downside to the older hotel is no elevator. We were on the second floor and had to carry all of our stuff up the flight of stairs. The worst part of the whole experience was the parking situation. Upon checking into the hotel, they asked me to drive around back and park near our room. Unfortunately, there were no available parking spots there and the only other area that we could find to park was pay only. I went back to the checkin area and asked what to do and they assisted me with moving some cones from the reserved parking area which allowed us to park on the opposite end of the hotel. We not only had to carry our luggage up the flight of stairs but also what seemed to be a half a mile to our room. When we finally were able to park, we were afraid to drive our car again and lose our parking spot.

We found the room to be very clean and well stocked with towels. Even though the balcony overlooked a crowded area, the rooms were surprisingly quiet when we were ready to go to bed. The rooms do not have a refridgerator or high speed internet access. No fridge was a little of an inconvenience since we were traveling with a cooler stocked with water, sodas and food. There is no place close by to get a bag of ice and the hotel does not allow you to fill your cooler from the ice machine. When I asked to staff where I could get a bag of ice, they said that I would have to drive to a gas station a couple of miles away. They did offer that I take some ice from the ice machine to keep my food from spoiling.

Overall, not a bad place to stay, but if I were returning to this area, I would probably try out different accommodations.

Great location but pretty mediocre

The location was great but the hotel was looking a little tired. We were right next to the mini golf course so it was a bit noisy when we went to bed and the room was not as dark as we like for sleeping. Someone was sick in the pool shortly before we got there, so it was closed for the night. It didn't matter since we didn't have time to use it. It served our purpose for a quick one night stop to see the falls, but I don't think I'd return.

Stayed there for two nights - June 18th & 19th. So glad I had read the review about requesting a balcony for no additional charge - we had 3 rooms, 2 adjoining and one next to that, all with balconies. Fun to see some in our group doing the mini golf from our balcony. Also able to see the fireworks from our balcony. Breakfast was very nice - muffins, bagels, toast, cereal, fresh fruit, danish - maybe not overly exciting, but perfect! Very very clean hotel. They said it was sold out, but you would never know it - noise level was low. Probably the biggest indoor hotel pool I have ever seen and nice hot tub. Towels provided at the pool. Walking distance to so many places, including the falls! Would recommend that families try to get this hotel first before any others - can't beat the price for what you get!

What a fantastic hotel! We were very plesantly surprised by the family suite that we stayed in. Two clean, spacious rooms, one for us, one for the kids. Breakfast was adequate and the pool area was nice too. Best of all was the proximity of the hotel to the Clifton Hill attractions and to the Falls. We really enjoyed this hotel and plan to stay there again when we visit the falls.

My wife, son, and myself stayed at the Comfort Inn Clifton Hill two weeks ago and were very pleased with everything about the property and staff. It is right in the middle of Clifton Hill ( think Gatlinburg TN, Vegas, or any ocean boardwalk ) and just a short walk down the hill to the Falls. The rooms were very clean, and the staff were extremely pleasant and accomodating ( honestly I can't say enough about how nice and helpful they were - very helpful and thoughtful to guests ). The hotel is connected to Kelsey's on Clifton Hill; it's a great place to sit on their balcony and watch people. After reading these posts about other hotels in the area I am happier than ever that we chose the Comfort Inn Clifton Hill because those "parking charges" that are added by other hotels don't exist here, and we got our 2 queen bed- room for about $53.00 U.S for three weekday nights each. This place is fun, convenient ( some walking up hill back from the falls ), close to the falls ( .25 to American Falls, 1.25 to Horseshoe ), a great value, and will make for an even better vacation because of all the money you save. Want a good view? Take a ride to the top of the Skylon Tower, other than that just walk to them and see the real beautiful view.....UP CLOSE!

Great Location

My family and I reciently stayed at the Comfort Inn on Clifton Hill and it was excellent. Great value for the money and you couldn't ask for a better location, especially with kids. You are right in the middle of downtown and just a short walk to the Falls. The rooms are clean and stocked with the normal fair, like coffee maker, hair dryer and iron. A continental breakfast is offered in a private room and the kids loved it, cereal, croissants, toast, bagles, muffins and a large bowl of fruit, plus a variety of beverages...what more could you ask for. We used the indoor pool and it was very nice. I know we will be back, this is a great Hotel.

Good location, walking distance to the Falls Area. Free parking. Room was okay; a little old. Pool area looked nice but didn't use it. Large breakfast area and the free breakfast was okay.

After two previous good stays at this Comfort Inn on Clifton Hill, we returned for a third stay on February 17 and 18, 2004. Our room was clean and spacious. After check-in, I asked the front desk, "Why are we always located in the 100 wing? How much extra does it cost to have a room with a balcony?". I was surprised to hear that the balcony did not cost extra, and that because we were a couple, they had put us in the quieter 100 wing. OK. I asked if we could have our second night in a balcony room. That was not a problem. We were perfectly contented with the quality of the first room #124. However, upon switching to the 400 wing balcony, we were in ecstasy! Twice I sat for long periods on the balcony. It was only 30 degrees outside, but it was so quiet. The birds were chirping. Our balcony overlooked a dinosaur minature golf park. It would be high action in the summer, and I would probably enjoy that too. Both rooms were 100% super clean. I am very grateful to the front desk staff to allow us a different room for the second night. The pool was very nice for an evening swim. The buffet breakfast was standard breads, cereals and a large fruit bowl. Beverages are included too. It was an exceptionally good value for the price. We paid $53 Canadian per night for mid week. My brother booked a family suite for the same week.
It was interesting to see the room layout - two rooms connected sharing one bathroom. He normally stays at the Quality Inn and tried the Comfort Inn for the first time. We were all very satisfied. Location is the best!

Comfort Inn Clifton Hill is one of the better hotels in Niagara Falls.
We absolutely love Clifton Hill, this is one of the hot spots we always visit every year, sometimes twice a year during spring and summer. It is a very enjoyable, relaxing place to be at. The Comfort Inn is very clean and the staff treat you extremely well. After staying at a few other Niagara Falls hotels, this hotel offers you a lot more for the money. We are definately coming back next season.

Top Local Tips for Niagara Falls

Cross Border Shopping If you plan on shopping in the states, make sure you do it in one day only. If you are lucky and do not have to pay duty on purchases and then return the next day with those purchases you could be asked to pay duty on those purchases for the second trip. Stay in the states overnight and shop. 2 days overnight in the states entitles you to $400.00 each.

A lot more to do on Canada side, than the American. Change over some of your $, at convienant exchanges, to shop, eat and attractions.

Hit Victoria Avenue for Restaurants One block of Clifton Hill is Victoria Ave with a lot of great, small, local restaurants. Avoid the overpriced chains (like The Keg) and hit these. We highly recomment Monticello. We spent about $120 US (with tip) and loved it. Food was great and the service and atmosphere were friendly and cozy.
