Great for families

from jetset_woman
Visited the Cairn Croft on Feb 28th for 2 days during a snowstorm but it didn't matter as we just stayed inside pretty much the whole time. Hotel has everything any kid could wish for! The indoor atrium has a heated pool, play area, video arcade area, live fish and birds, and pizza! For adults, there is a bar area, restaurant and 2 hot tubs. If you are travelling with kids be sure to ask for the courtyard, preferably the lower level so your room walks right out into the atrium and you have your own patio table and chairs outside your door.
Hotel rooms are clean, have a coffee maker, hair dryer, iron/board, and a small fridge which was great. Only ate at the restaurant once, food was very average (many other restaurants withing walking distance) but everything else there was outstanding. We will be going back soon!

Fabulous Time

Was looking for a winter getaway something for us all to do - have 2 children 9-6. We booked a hotel on the web in the courtyard, as they told us on the phone that we had to have a 2 night min stay, but the web allowed us to stay for one night only in the courtyard. This is the place to stay as the kids have access to the large play area and the pool, hot tubs etc. Note, if you don't have kids, you might think its a bit noisy as the kids do run around as its like an indoor playground for them. The rooms were spotless and well kept. There is a mini fridge in the rooms, everything is new. You can sit outside and play cards/games (a lot of families were doing that) there is a full bar available. Unfortunately we had only one night stay as on Saturday there is a kids club and pizza and movie night. It was a real treat for the kids, especially since it wa -21 outside. We did venture to the falls but the kids wanted to get back as they made friends and were very happy just staying at the hotel. Would highly recommend it... I've passed on this to my friends and I'm looking forward to going back. As for the restaurant, very friendly and cheap breakfast. Food was good, didn't have any complaints, expect the plate was a bit small (and that's really nothing to complain about). Hope this review helps you choose this great hotel. You will enjoy.

A Great vacation Experience

This hotel was great for my family (husband, 4 boys ages 10, 7, 4 and 21 months) and my motherinlaw. We took 2 rooms and although they were not connected, they were next to each other. I read many reviews about high rise hotels and how it could take 20 minutes to get an elevator. This hotel courtyard only had two floors. I decided to try a hotel that was not near the falls and we found our stay to be very pleasant. Although not new looking, the hotel rooms were adequate, but the swimming pool, playarea and beauty of the courtyard was fantastic! The children couldn't wait each day to get back to the hotel and swim. The courtyard was open til 10pm everynight, so it was very accommodating for families. The restaurant did not serve foods to suit our dietary needs, so we had to ask the front desk for advice. Each of the two nights, Tammy was extremely helpful at trying to provide suggestions. I also recommend buying a VIP pass for Niagara Falls, because we only had to pay $5 to park the car (hotel is only a mile away) and took the people mover bus up and down the strip to all the Falls attractions. We saved a great deal of money on the hotel and the attractions and also had no long lines to wait in to pay for tickets. I highly recommend this hotel if you have a family of young children.!

the restaraunt was horrible

My boyfriend and I stayed for four days at the Cairn Croft in early august 2004. The staff was very nice and the rooms were very clean. Everything's fine. We decided that evening to go to the bar and have a few drinks. With us in there it totalled about 6 customers and there were four waitresses standing around. We ordered a drink each and it took the waitress 15 mintues to bring them to us. she was too busy with her back against the wall. we sat there with empty drinks for 25 minutes and she never came around at all. so we told the bartender that i guess that's all we will have, and he said the waitress was very busy. So when we left you have to walk past the restaurant to go towards the lobby, and she was at the till of the restaurant with the three other waitresses talking and laughing.

the restaurant advertised that they had "ALL You Can eat ribs". so we thought okay we'll try them. The restaurant was busy and everyone was eating them so we thought they must be good. When we got them i looked at them and they looked good. All of a sudden I smelt this really bad odor that really smelled like B.O. it was repulsive. my boyfriend said he couldn't smell it. all he could smell was vinegar. I went to bite into the rib and that was the smell. i threw it down it missed my plate. he took a bite of his and his had so much vinegar that he started choking a little. So i cut mine open a little and they were very very uncooked. I called the waitress over to show her and she said sorry but the cooks are really busy so they must not be cooking them as long as they need to. WHAT!!! If it mean't waiting a little longer for my food, that's okay because i really prefer my food cooked.

Nice bar and rooms

from Wim_Thea
This hotel is OK ! Though we did not use the restaurant. The rooms are spacious and were clean and nice. Attached to the hotel is a bar/disco. After visiting the (cheap) commercial down-town of Niagara Falls one can have a fine last drink at this bar !

a great place to stay

from gburgpat
We spent two nights at the Best Western Cairn Croft. Our room was in the courtyard and although the smell of chlorine is strong in the natatorium we could not smell it at all in our room. The room was clean and the staff was wonderful. The pool was warm and refreshing and the courtyard was just beautiful. Our daughter loved the play area and the pool and the hot tub was just right. We didn't eat at the restaurant so I am not sure about the food. The front desk staff were kind and very helpful to me when I had somewhat of an emergency at home and needed them to send a fax for me. The bus stop to the attractions is right in front of the hotel. I would definately stay there again.

Enjoyed our stay

We had a really good time at this hotel. Really family oriented. Kids and adults had fun. Good location with a falls shuttle right out the door. Nice confortable rooms. I would definately stay there again.

Great family vacation

We just spent 4 days @ the Best Western Cairn Croft. It was great for the kids (ages 8 and 18 mths). They loved the pool, playground, play area. The tropical forest was great at creating the illusion of being somewhere south. We were wearing our bathing suits the whole time, meanwhile, it was -15 outside. We stayed on the second floor of the Courtyard and it was great. A little noisy at night, but hey, it was March Break. A lot of people complain about the breakfast they offer, but we found it okay. I mean, it's breakfast, right? You can't go wrong with eggs, toast and bacon. They actually give you two or three choices, and it's really not bad. As for meals, there's Wendy's, McDonald's, BK, Pizza Hut, even a chinese buffet restaurant in the area, plus a No Frills right next to the hotel. We got a two night-three day package and with it breakfast for two days plus a $20 voucher for dinner, which was good, 'cause we got a pretty decent meal for 20 bucks for a family of 4 (well, 3 and a half). We had a mini fridge in our room, and that was good for keeping milk for the baby.
It's a great location, close enough to Niagara Falls (not walking distance, about a two minute drive), but there's enough to do in the hotel that you don't really need to go out and about. We will definitely go back.

a great getaway

from jeweleryjulie
it is great for families. We had a poolside room and the kids went in and out of the room whenever they needed to. It is nice to sit outside the room after the kids go to bed. We sat in the hottub and had some "adult"time together. the kids loved the climbers and the arcade games.

A Good Place For Families With Children

from Muffin_33
My husband and I took our children to Niagara Falls for 2 days in early May of 2003. We had booked a package deal at the Cairn Croft.

The weather was terrible during our stay-it never stopped raining and one of the reasons we decided to stay there was the enclosed Courtyard.
The kids loved it!! We usually had the area to ourselves. We enjoyed swimming and hot tubbing while the kids played nearby on the climbing equipment. It was very relaxing. The smell of chlorine was strong but what do you expect.

The food at the restaurant was good. I have no complaints. The package included our breakfast each morning and 1 dinnner. I thought that it was a very reasonable price and the food was good. As long as you are not looking for 5 star fine dining I don't see why anyone would complain.

Our room was in the tower and was fairly spacious. The view was nothing spectacular but that wasn't what we went for. I would suggest staying in the tower, it was clean and comfortable. Based on the chlorine smell in the courtyard, I would imagine that the rooms that open to the courtyard would smell like a pool. We are planning a return trip this year.
